After 10 successive wins, it’s getting harder by the week for us to keep our feet on the ground. But we take nothing for granted as we head for Pilkington backed by what we hope will be 1,000 noisy Shakers fans. Lower Breck kept up the pressure at the top by winning 3-1 at lowly Colne on Tuesday night. They’ve now played the same number of games and are just three points behind. Our margin of victory at Pilkington’s neighbours FC St Helens last weekend was as slim as it can be. But that was

There are plenty of good reasons for every available Bury supporter to head to Gigg Lane for the match against Pilkington this weekend. The lead-up has been about as good as it gets: two away wins in five days and two clean sheets, followed by two training sessions in a rare week clear of matches. It’s likely that on-loan striker Djavan Pedro will make his first home appearance following his impressive debut at Colne. And then… you might just catch a glimpse of our old

We return to Gigg Lane for the only home game of the month tomorrow night, and we will be conducting our remembrance service ahead of kick-off so please arrive early. Full details on the night’s service, can be found here. We maintained our position at the top of the table following our exploits in the FA Vase over the weekend. Wins for both Wythenshawe and Kendal closed the gap on us below, which means we will need to be back at it following a lacklustre performance in the north-east again

It was disappointment in Burscough for The Shakers on Saturday, falling to defeat to bottom of the table Skelmersdale United. On day where it just didn’t seem to click for Dave McNabbs men, Pascal Chimbonda’s Skelmersdale side made sure that they took their chances and were fortunate enough to gain a goal courtesy of a rare Harry Wright error. Skem Chairman Frank Hughes described to us on Playing Away how there was a False bottom in our Division and his team showcased why they perhaps

In our last outing Dave McNabbs men put Skelmersdale United to the sword in an emphatic 10 – 1 victory. A result that is a new league record for The Shakers surpassing the 8 – 0 set against Huddersfield Town way back in January 1970. Goals for; Andy Briggs, Connor Comber, Andy Scarisbrick, Dec Daniels, Arthur Lomax-Jones, Benito Lowe, Sam Burns and a debut hattrick for local lad Jacob Holland-Wilkinson left the Gigg Lane faithful in no doubt that the team has their eyes fully set on the tas

We head into the final five games following an agonising finale to our Good Friday battle with Wythenshawe at Gigg Lane. Saturdays game saw us draw with our promotion rivals after a penalty given in the dying seconds of eight additional added minutes handed Wythenshawe a point and a boost in the race for the title. We now turn to Easter Monday and a trip to Adie Moran park where we will take on playoff chasers Prestwich Heys. Heys have won four of their last six and will be looking to

The Shakers go into our local derby at Prestwich after a great run of results – including a 5-2 home win against Heys on December 28th.   Since then we have established a clear lead at the top of the league and turned in some excellent performances – including Tuesday night’s 3-2 win against Isle of Man. But the game had more drama than many a TV crime series.   The Manx men took an early lead and levelled the scores at 2-2 four minutes from full-time. But our winner in the fourth

In a season of new starts and reconnecting with football in our town, the return of a Boxing Day fixture at Gigg Lane places another tick in the box of all Bury supporters, as we welcome Prestwich Heys for a local derby clash this festive period. With the ground left to ruin from 2019, the roar of a Gigg Lane crowd on Boxing Day went with it. And all who have been involved with its return will no doubt be ‘walking down the the Manny Road’ with beaming smiles this year to witness what is set

After the big one, we have another local derby against neighbours Prestwich Heys and the prospect of going into the New Year still at the top of the league. Victory against Heys would bring our points tally over the Christmas period to seven, but we can be sure they won’t go down without a fight. As we’ve seen again and again, teams come to Gigg Lane determined to give us a tough battle. For Heys, a local derby makes the challenge even greater. It’s disappointing that we don’t go
