The Shakers chalked up another three points this past Saturday in front of a bumper Gigg Lane crowd of 3304, putting on a sensational attacking display in the second half and putting Irlam to the sword to jump back to the top of the North West Counties Premier Division. Goals came from all three available strikers; with Dec Daniels slotting home a penalty past his former club, Andy Briggs taking advantage of a wayward back pass to power through and smash home, and finally Joe Hobson with a

Objective achieved! We prepared for this game by bouncing back in style from the defeat at Lower Breck by beating Burscough 4-2 away. The first 45 minutes were probably the best we’ve played all season, even counting the stunning 8-0 defeat of Longridge Town. So we travel once again to Merseyside with heads held high. But it was disappointing to present Burscough with a gift goal early in the second half, and after that it was a struggle. Quality told in the end, and overall it was anot

After seven successive wins, we’re determined to turn the tables on a team who stunned us on the road two months ago. We did it to West Didsbury and Chorlton and to Lower Breck, and now it’s REMYCA’s turn. Another week without a midweek game has given us good preparation time and the lads will be chomping at the bit to get out in front of the Gigg Lane faithful and set the record straight but this doesn’t mean we will be taking our opponents lightly as we very well know, there are no easy game

On a rainy afternoon in the Derbyshire hills, Dave McNabb’s charges fell to a late defeat courtesy of a headed 96th minute Glossop goal. Until the goal The Shakers had held on well after being reduced to ten men following a red card for Bury wing back Gaz Peet early into the second half. In a game that could’ve gone either way in the with both teams having plenty of chances there were some bright spots in defeat including a debut goal for new man Andy Scarisbrick and a solid debut for Charl

Our visit to Longridge Town for a league match is in no sense a case of “back to the old routine” for the unbeaten Shakers. It will be a tough game against opponents who had a good start to the season but now desperately need to prove a point. Town are more than aware that Bury go into the game after that dramatic Emirates FA Cup win at Radcliffe last weekend and a good result in a demanding midweek encounter with Chadderton. In such a situation, a come-down in a real danger. B

It’s our first fixture of the festive month of December, as we head to Longridge on Saturday afternoon. A visit that has been delayed by a week due to poor weather, we should have seen a scheduled game against Ramsbottom United at Gigg Lane but due to the Rams being in FA Vase action, we have brought forward our trip over to Preston. The Ridge have had mixed fortunes in their last six fixtures winning two, drawing one, and losing three, and currently occupy 19th spot in the table. We head i

It wouldn’t be surprising if Longridge Town come to Gigg Lane fired up with determination to take revenge for the 5-1 defeat we inflicted on them last month, when they visit Gigg Lane this weekend. It was a score that perhaps flattered the Shakers back in October, conceding three penalties in the game but after overcoming that storm and Mitch Allen saving two of the penalties, the result was empthatic in the end. Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw against Charnock Richard proved that we won’

We go again this weekend after picking up four points since last Saturday, with a win at home against West Didsbury & Chorlton and a point on the road at Wythenshawe in midweek, following a late penalty. Shakeel Jones-Griffiths grabbed his first Bury goal with a header from a corner on Tuesday night and a returning Benito Lowe sent Gigg Lane into raptures last weekend when a spirited West fightback set up a nail-biting finish and a last minute winner. Get your highlights for both games

The Anfield area of Liverpool is nestled in football history and that’s where we head on Saturday. Andy Welsh’s side face Lower Breck, who played just under a mile away from the home of Liverpool. It was a 1-1 draw last time out against Longridge, the goal coming from Benito Lowe who scored started his first game since his return from injury. The players have had a well-earned rest with no game in midweek, so two sessions in training this week to prepare for this fixture. Former
