We have been drawn at home to fellow Northern Premier League Premier Division side Gainsborough Trinity in the FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round draw. The game is scheduled to be played on Saturday 26th September, with further details around the game to be released in the coming week. Emley (H) | Match Highlights | NPL Premier | 2026/27

A brace from Kai Evans plus goals from Tom Carr and Owen Robinson completed a comfortable 4-0 home win for Bury over visitors Emley. There was only one change to the Shakers lineup that won the week before with Bailey Sloane preferred to Louis Isherwood in defence. Rustam Stepans was back on the bench having missed the last three weeks with concussion but the home side were without their manager in the dugout as he served the first of a three match ban. In the early exchanges it was the visitors Emley who carved out the first real chances of the day. Former Shaker Gabriel Johnson lead an attacking front three that saw Aaron Haswell’s shot deflected away while Jack Cowgill headed over the bar from a free kick. Bury grew into the match. A Kai Evans pass was threaded to Mo Touray who set up Leo Graham for a shot that went over the bar. Tom Carr then had a great chance when he got in behind the defence. He went down under pressure from the Pewits keeper yet neither a penalty for a foul nor a booking for simulation was doled out. Next Touray stole the ball in Emley’s half and played in Owen Robinson. His lob over goalkeeper Ben Bottomley seemed destined to land in the net but was deflected wide and out for a corner. Bury then had a trio of chances. Carr played in Robinson to shoot. His first effort hit the post, his second was saved by Bottomley. Granted a third chance Robinson laid the ball off to the oncoming Touray who blasted an effort onto the crossbar. The goal was coming for the Shakers and it was fitting that Robinson would be the one to put it away. A perfect cross from the left by Connor Pye was headed in to open the scoring. Five minutes later the score was doubled and again it was a cross from Pye that unlocked the defence. A fiercer effort into the box this time and Tom Carr ghosted between two defenders and buried the chance for 2-0. Finding their groove Bury looked like scoring every time they went forward. A passing move through the middle saw Touray, Carr and Robinson create an opening for Leo Graham but he could only fire over the bar. The Shakers third goal came from a free kick out on the left. Kai Evans with a goal of the season contender curled an effort to the far top corner that Bottomley at full stretch didn’t get close to. The away side couldn’t match the Shakers but nearly claimed a goal back before the break. Joe Stacey arriving late for a corner placed a shot that Mitch Allen saved at the bottom corner. After halftime Bury still showed the type of quality that had now seen them score eighteen goals in their last three home matches. Evans cross was met by Robinson but the onrushing Bottomley did enough to block the shot. Evans and Robinson combined again shortly afterwards and grabbed the fourth goal of the day. Evans from a narrow angle fired in to put the match beyond a doubt. The search for a fifth goal never stopped. Substitute Anthony Dudley came the closest heading one chance over, another that hit the post and when played in by Graham his left footed volley was brilliantly saved by the Emley keeper. The 4-0 win underlined another storming performance from the Shakers, though it is a credit to how well they have performed of late that a four goal victory felt almost routine. Bury Football Club was proud to be represented in Parliament this week as football supporters from across the country came together to celebrate the work clubs and supporters carry out in their communities. Tina Newall, Chair of the Football Supporters’ Society of Bury, and Casey Lynchey, Head of Operations & Community attended the ‘Beyond Matchdays: Celebrating Supporters in the Community’ event on Tuesday, hosted by the All Party Parliamentary Group for Football Supporters and the Football Supporters’ Association. Tina, who was only one of three speakers, alongside Nick Clarke (Citizens Trust – MCFC) & Hannah Kumari. (Fans for Diversity- FSA), delivered a speech at the event, which can be read in full below: APPG Bury speech v1.1 FinalDownload The event brought together MPs, the Sports Minister Stephanie Peacock, supporter organisations and representatives from clubs across the football pyramid, from non-league to the Premier League. Bury was among a number of fan-owned clubs represented at the event, alongside Darlington, Dunstable, Newport County and Scarborough Athletic. The event focused on the vital role football clubs and supporters play beyond the matchday, with attendees sharing examples of community work covering mental health, food poverty, inclusion, youth development and the use of football facilities for wider community benefit. Bury’s journey was a key part of the discussion, with Tina speech about the work undertaken by supporters to rebuild the club over the past five years. The club’s growing community operation was also highlighted, including the year-round use of the 3G pitch, grassroots and recreational football, Sporting Memories, Andy’s Man Club, education and employment opportunities, Baby Ballers, disability and walking football, and school holiday football camps. For us, the event was an opportunity to showcase what can be achieved when supporters are placed at the heart of a football club and when a club’s role extends far beyond what happens on the pitch. It was also a chance to share ideas and experiences with supporter organisations from across the game, highlighting the different ways football continues to support and strengthen communities across the country. The event provided a fitting platform to reflect on how far football in Bury has come since 2019. Once a club whose future was uncertain, Bury is now a growing, fan-owned football club with a thriving community operation and ambitions to continue building for future generations. Bury Football Club is delighted to invite all fans aged 15-17 to apply for a position on the newly established Youth Advisory Board. As announced at the Members Forum in July, the Youth Advisory Board will work closely with Club staff to establish effective two-way dialogue in a professional and safe environment. Led by Football Supporters’ Society of Bury Board Member, Brad Seymour, the Youth Advisory Board will liaise with the Club and Community Trust. The Club aims to increase engagement with younger supporters and discuss strategic decisions with the next generation of Bury FC fans. The board will discuss youth initiatives, ticketing, events, stadium development, long-term planning and more. The Youth Advisory Board will be made up of 15-17 year old fans, subject to consent from a parent or guardian. All fans will sit on the board for one season and are welcome to reapply subject to age. Successful supporters will be invited to attend an introductory meeting at Gigg Lane where fans will meet members of the board, discuss expectations and consider their priorities as the new Youth Advisory Board. We can confirm that defender Aiden Walker has left the club by mutual consent. Aiden returned to action at the Salford Van Hire Gigg Lane Stadium on Saturday, coming off the bench for the final 30 minutes against Wythenshawe in the Emirates FA Cup. It marked a welcome return for the defender, who spent the majority of last season sidelined, following shoulder surgery, before further injury setbacks during pre-season. Following discussions between Aiden and manager Anthony Johnson, the decision has now been made for the 26-year-old to leave the club and pursue regular first-team football. Over the summer holidays, Bury FC proudly ran our biggest Holiday Club to date in partnership with the Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF). Across an incredible 14 days, children from the local community enjoyed a fantastic programme of football, fun activities, and nutritious meals, making the most of their summer holidays at Gigg Lane. The camp was a huge success, welcoming more children than ever before and giving them the opportunity to get active, make new friends, develop their football skills, and experience life at their local football club. Our partnership with HAF also meant we could continue providing valuable support to local families during the school holidays. We have been drawn at home to fellow Northern Premier League Premier Division side Workington Town in the Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round draw. The game is scheduled to be played on Saturday 19th September, with further details around the game to be released in the coming week. It will be the fourth meeting between the two sides in the FA Cup, having first battled it out in the 1971/72 season with the Shakers coming away with a 3-1 victory. Five years later in November 1976, it was a comfortable 6-0 win for Bury at Gigg Lane with the third meeting coming in the 2007/08 campaign. Workington, then in the Blue Square North, looked to be taking the game to a replay before Andy Bishop popped up with a late hat-trick to send the Shakers in the Second Round – part of one of the more memorable runs for fans. A 1-0 win against Exeter City followed before Bishop sent the travelling fans wild at Norwich, heading home from Brian Barry-Murphy’s free kick. The home side equalised to set up a replay, with 4,146 in attendance to see the Shakers knock the Championship side out and set up a trip to Southampton – Richie Baker hitting the post early on and then the hosts running out 2-0 winners. Wythenshawe (H) | Match Highlights | Emirates FA Cup | 2026/27

Making an ideal start to their FA Cup campaign Bury put in another high scoring home performance beating NPL West outfit Wythenshawe 8-0 at Gigg Lane. In the week Anthony Johnson had lamented Bury’s wastefulness in front of goal and it seemed it would be more of the same in this tie. Connor Pye burst down the left but his cross was picked out by goalkeeper Ryan Forde while Owen Robinson saw a cross fall to Mo Touray but he didn’t make solid contact with the shot. Further chances came and went, Leo Graham was teed up but couldn’t take a shot, Oscar Threlkeld headed wide from a corner, Touray headed another over the bar while Bobby Carroll’s brilliant pass deserved to be put away by Tom Carr. It could have been a different story had Wythenshawe put away a chance of their own as Princewell Anuniru got in behind the defence. Threlkeld blocked the shot and made the clearance. It was set to be another frustrating day until Connor Pye appeared at the far post to head in Owen Robinson’s cross and open the scoring. This broke the seal and in the fifteen minute spell that followed the Shakers couldn’t stop scoring. Seconds after the restart Leo Graham played in Carr who rounded the keeper and finished into the open net. Bury continued to look the most likely to score, Kai Evans made it three on 40 minutes. Surging towards goal and working a neat one-two with Touray before finishing into the bottom corner. 3-0 turned to 4-0 when Touray was fouled outside the box. Evans took the free kick and left Forde stationary as he grabbed his second. Wythenshawe must have been begging for halftime but Bury kept on coming. One minute into stoppage time Robinson’s cross from the left was headed in by Touray. Then before the referee could blow for halftime it was six. Connor Pye again at the far post had all the time in the world to fire a shot into the top corner. Three minutes into the second half and Bury scored their seventh. Touray pulling the ball back to Robinson to fire into the bottom corner. Bury fans by now were looking up record scores in cup matches. In a relatively quiet second half the goals were harder to come by but it wasn’t for lack of effort. The most likely to score again was Kai Evans in search of his third. He crossed to Jes Uchegbulam but the substitute just missed contact. Evans went for it alone next time seeing a long range effort tipped over by Forde. Evans wouldn’t be denied again and with Uchegbulam as provider he struck into the top corner for his hat-trick and Bury’s eighth. View lineups and more in our match centre.
