Two away trips for the Shakers this week start with a visit to the West Midlands, as we take on Darlaston Town for the first time in our history. Saturday saw a rare home defeat against Lower Breck, only our fourth league loss at Gigg Lane since Dave McNabb was appointed in September 2023. It’s only the third league game where the Shakers have failed to score this season. We remain fourth in the table going into Wednesday’s fixture. In Opposition – Darlaston Town Darlaston were promoted to S

After a break from the league in midweek, we return for our second consecutive league home fixture, as we welcome Darlaston Town to Gigg Lane. A goal apiece on either side of half-time meant we shared the spoils with Avro last time out in a tightly contested encounter, ending both clubs’ recent winning runs as the chase for top spot continues. Darlaston went on to beat Avro 1-0 in midweek, setting up quite an interesting fixture this weekend. In Opposition – Darlaston Town Darlaston have wo

We look forward to welcoming the travelling players, staff, volunteers and fans from the Isle of Man to Gigg Lane this coming Saturday for what is set to be a tough challenge as Dave McNabb’s men look to bounce back from last weekend’s loss in South Manchester.   The inquest on what went wrong at the Step Places Stadium has been thorough and honest. We hope to see the fruits of all that heart-searching in this match and the rest of the season.   With that in mind, we’re still up th

We welcome FC Isle of Man to Gigg Lane on Tuesday night, after the original fixture was postponed from January 11th as a result of the big freeze. We narrowly escaped defeat on the island back in September, but we come into the return fixture in great form.   Successive victories against Lower Breck at home and Barnoldswick Town and Stockport Town away have re-established our position as league leaders at the top of the table with 73 points from 34 games.   A key factor in this is

The Shakers’ comfortable 2-0 win at home to Barnoldswick Town was our ninth in succession – a run we aim to continue and clinch promotion. And what a treat to be roared on by another big gate: 3,497. Just six games to go – three at home and three away. This weekend it’s FC St Helens away, followed in a week’s time by a visit to their neighbours, Pilkington. Then it’s back to Gigg Lane on March 29 for the visit of Squires Gate – currently second to bottom. The mood music that day will be prov

With six games in hand we moved to nine points off the top of the league with a 2-0 win against Pilkington today. Rustam Stepans and DJ Pedro scored the goals that ensure Dave McNabb’s Barmy Army continue our unbeaten streak in the NWCFL Premier which now extends to 17 games. At the other end of the pitch The Shakers back line remained solid as rock, claiming their third clean sheet in a row, seventh of the season. We also marked Remembrance Day, taking a moment to remember all those b
