After two weeks of cup football, that saw us exit the FA vase after a tough battle with Whickham in the North East and progress in the Macron Cup following penalty shootout heroics from goalkeeping coach and reserve keeper Sam Ashton, we return to NWCFL premier league action this Saturday as we face Skelmersdale United away at The Community Ground in Burscough. Following the Ramsbottom game we were thrilled to receive a note from The ‘Rams’ Club Secretary, Tony Cunningham, praising the club

January comes to a close (we can’t believe it either), and we hope beyond hope that we can get a game on in what has felt like too long! The Shakers last took to the field almost two weeks ago when we dispatched Litherland REMYCA (highlights below) and in doing so, keeping up with those at the top of the league in the process. Due to the weather playing havoc with fixtures across the league, there has not been much change since with Wythenshawe Town remaining top by a point, with Wythenshaw

Nine games to go, and the run in has very much started – and started well. We go to South Liverpool’s Jericho Lane ground in a strong position after a run of six wins on the bounce. We turned the tables on West Didsbury and Chorlton, and the 2-1 scoreline didn’t reflect our dominance for most of the game. Nevertheless it was sweet revenge for the result in the reverse game just a few short weeks ago. What told in the end was the high quality and fighting spirit of our players. Josh Gregory’s

We return to league action tomorrow evening, with the visit of South Liverpool to Gigg Lane.   Dave McNabb’s side made it 10 games unbeaten in all competitions, with a 2-0 win away at Garforth Town, booking in our place in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. Alex Cherera & Lewis Alessandra scored on either side of the break. Cherera now has five FA Cup goals this season. The draw has just been made for the next round, and we head to either Campion or Blyth Spartans in the

Here. We. Go! After a fantastic pre-season, seeing us win seven out of our seven games with four clean sheets and only three goals conceded and 14 goals scored, against a mix of opponents from higher and lower divisions, we head into the new campaign looking sharp with one aim: Promotion to the Northern Premier League. Recruitment has gone well over the summer with many new faces coming in and some quickly on there way to already becoming fan favourites. We go into the first game with

The manager-less Shakers head over to the seaside this mid-week in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division to take on Squires Gate at the Brian Addison Stadium, kick-off is 7.45pm. A 2-1 defeat on Merseyside to Lower Breck on Saturday dropped us to fifth position in the league and as a result Andy Welsh left his post after three years at the helm of the club. The show goes on and in quick fashion, with under-23s managers Leon Mike and Stephen ‘Sas’ Sheil taking charge

We’re back home after a three-week break, after wrapping up two amazing away wins in St Helens. Now, we’re all set to keep our winning streak going and make it 12 on the bounce. We want to give a big shoutout to the fans who made the trip down the M62 two weekends in a row to cheer on the Shakers. You guys were incredible, creating that atmosphere that really pumps up the lads on the pitch! A win would really crank up the pressure on our promotion rivals, Lower Breck, as they face FC Isle of

We return to Gigg Lane for our second league game in three days, as we host Squires Gate in the NWCFL. This is a chance to extend our lead at the top of the league, so get on down and get behind the boys!   Saturday saw an emphatic 4-0 win against Wythenshawe Town, a debut hat-trick from Joe Duckworth and Andy Scarisbrick also on the scoresheet gave Dave McNabb’s side a perfect Saturday afternoon. Debutants Harry Wright & Joe Duckworth both spoke to the media following the week

After that great win at home to Lower Breck, we face a different kind of challenge – a team even newer to this league than we are, and packed with lively young players. Lower Breck were beating everybody in sight, but we beat them in some style. The first half was probably our best 45 minutes of the season so far. Yes, we gave them a window of opportunity by sitting back at 3-1. But we made it, and overall were the better team by some distance.   The last six weeks have been toug
