Atherton Collieries are our opponents at Gigg Lane as we return to league action, after a break for the Frank Hannah Premier Cup on Monday night against Maine Road, where a brace from Tyler James and other goals from Gerry McCullion and Patrick Johnrose saw us book our place in the next round. Our last league outing was one to put behind us, a 3-0 defeat against Witton Albion. The fixture brought the return of Gavin Massey in the starting eleven, as well as a return for DJ Pedro and a debut for

Wow! Bury go into their FA Cup preliminary round match at Avro on Saturday with confidence sky high after a thumping 7-1 league victory at Abbey Hey on Tuesday.   The Shakers needed a good performance after the tame home draw against Irlam at Gigg Lane last weekend. And they lived up to their nickname with six goals in an amazing second half.   The goal-fest began with a rapid-fire hat-trick in 10 minutes from Reuben Jerome, followed by goals Rustam Stepan (71), Cameron Fogarty (80

We don’t have long to recover from that almost last gasp home win on Saturday. Come Wednesday evening it’s off to Avro FC’s Vestacare Stadium in Oldham for our second NPL match. Newcastle Town gave us a thorough examination, and we passed. Although we won by only one goal, there could – and arguably should – have been others. It will be a different story at Avro. Their tactical approach will be to attack rather than defend. But we can have every confidence in our back line, which per

As 2026 started perfectly for us, we return to Gigg Lane as we take on Avro. Our game on Saturday against Shifnal Town was postponed due to a frozen pitch, resulting from low temperatures across the country in the lead-up to the game. On New Year’s Day, the Shakers picked up a 6-2 win against Stalybridge Celtic. A wonder strike of a free-kick from Kai Evans made up one goal of his hat-trick. Debutant Lewis Rawsthorn got off the mark, as well as Owen Robinson & Leo Graham, also on the score

We’ve had two weeks to move on from the defeat we suffered in South Manchester. Postponement of the home game against FC Isle of Man was unfortunate but necessary. So now we’re all set to go again as we travel to Barnoldswick.   How do we handle this match? – Coaches, players, and yes, fans as well – it is crucial that we start the final third of the season with a bang. And a repeat of the 7-0 drubbing we dished out at the Silentnight Stadium last season could be just the catalyst we need

They love a debut goal the Jepsons. It was the opening game of the 96/97 season when Stan Ternant’s new signing Ronnie Jepson scored in a home draw against Brentford. This past Tuesday, over 27 years since that one all draw, Ronnies son Oli Jepson scored a peach of a header in front of the home fans on his Shakers Debut. Oli wasn’t the only one to find the back of the net with Benito Lowe bagging a brace (Anyone else been singing that song ever since?) and Connor Comber finding the to

Our stunning 7-0 victory against Litherland REMYCA in front of 3,315 extended our fantastic winning run to eight games and extending the gap at the top of the table. We were given a lift even before the kick-off when Ramsbottom lost at home to FC St Helens on Friday night. And the big margin of victory more than made up for the result in the reverse fixture at Litherland in December. Five goals before half time and seven separate scorers demonstrated the terrific attacking mindset in the tea

With Christmas and New Year behind us, The Shakers enter 2024 sitting atop the North West Counties Premier Division table after a month that saw Dave McNabb’s men go unbeaten in the league. With the only mark on what would have been a perfect month being our Macron Cup exit to Charnock Richard which saw us fall to a narrow defeat at Gigg Lane. Wins on the road at Longridge and AFC Liverpool, a draw against a plucky Burscough side and a solid home win against promotion chasers Prestwich

We return home, but not as we know it, for a Tuesday clash against Barnoldswick Town in front of empty stands at Gigg Lane as the first of our stadium bans comes into force this week. The appeal against the ban to play two games behind closed doors, was rejected last week. Supporters will therefore not be able to watch from the stands for this game, or Saturday’s fixture against Charnock Richard. A summary of what this means has been outlined here. Despite this, the squad will be keen
