After that great win at home to Lower Breck, we face a different kind of challenge – a team even newer to this league than we are, and packed with lively young players. Lower Breck were beating everybody in sight, but we beat them in some style. The first half was probably our best 45 minutes of the season so far. Yes, we gave them a window of opportunity by sitting back at 3-1. But we made it, and overall were the better team by some distance. The last six weeks have been toug

Shakers go into their midweek home game against Stockport cock-a-hoop after Saturday’s convincing 3-0 Isuzu FA Vase victory over Burscough. The result never looked in doubt after Reuben Jerome opened the scoring in the seventh minute. There were elements of luck in the goal, but it was reward for shrewd use of the long ball against a shaky defence. It was all over bar the shouting by half-time. Defender Ben Hockenhull notched the second from close range following a free kick in the

It’s been a tough start to the season with both injuries and fixtures piling up and Saturday’s FA Trophy tie gave an opportunity for rest and recovery for many of our senior squad whilst giving an opportunity for our under 21’s to test their metal against strong opposition. The scoreline did not reflect the enormous amount of effort and heart put in by the young shakers side – who had an average age around 18 – and we thank them and everyone who travelled to Runcorn to get behind them on Satur

Following back to back wins in our opening fixtures in the North West Counties Premier Division our focus now shifts to the FA Cup and the first fixture in this history-steeped competition back at Gigg Lane in over four years. After confident performances on both the opening day against Glossop North End and Colne this Tuesday (highlights below), Andy Welsh’s men have set off out of the blocks at blistering pace with eight goals in the opening two games. In what promises to be a fantas

We are back in Northern Premier League West action this Saturday as we travel to the VanEupen Arena in Ellesmere Port to face Vauxhall Motors. This weekends fixture brings a gruelling October to a close; the trip over to The Motormen being The Shakers 6th league fixture in 19 days. The schedule has taken its toll, and Dave McNabb provided an injury update last week on several first team absentees. The squad was boosted on Tuesday as James Neild came off the bench to make his debut for The Sh

What a way to follow up a bad result: two wins and two clean sheets, in-front of two bumper crowds at Gigg Lane in the past week, which put us clear at the top of the league as we head to another play-off chasing side this Saturday. The Step Places Stadium is the venue for a sell-out clash, as fifth placed West Didsbury & Chorlton welcome the top-of-the-table Shakers to South Manchester. West’s form of two wins in seven league games will no doubt be a concern to manager Chris Rowley, bu

The Shakers start 2025 in great shape after a final few games of the year which saw us wrap us the festive season with seven points from three games marked by some solid performances and 12 goals. It was a tough run, and this will be a tough game in South Manchester. But we’re at the top of the league, with 64 points from 30 games, compared with West’s 50 from 28 in fifth position. Despite much of the squad suffering from a bug we overcame an early goal to come away 5-2 derby d

We last faced West a few days after some good performances, including a convincing home win against local rivals Prestwich Heys. But we suffered a 4-0 loss in South Manchester, a result Dave and his team are itching to set right. By coincidence, the return fixture follows another good performance against Prestwich. There was only ever one team in it as we won 2-0 at Adie Moran Park. That victory made it five in five games, and the long-awaited clean sheet was a welcome sign of prog

In a weekend with a quick fire double header your Shakers took on a strong Cheadle Town side in front of the Gigg Lane faithful on Saturday and faced a second trip to play an impressive Charnock in a fortnight. Our Shakers picked up 4 out of an available 6 points and we currently sit in 3rd spot in the table behind league leaders Kendal and second placed Chadderton. All eyes are now on this coming weekend’s game and we would like to see as many of you Shakers in attendance as we return to G
