Under the interim management of Tim Lees, we head to Shropshire to face Shifnal Town as we kick-start a busy December of fixtures. Tim will be in the dugout, after a club restructure this week, moving Dave McNabb to a role of Head of Football Operations. Last time out we faced a goalless draw against Atherton Colls. Atherton threatened early, while we improved after halftime, with chances for DJ Pedro and Kai Evans. A late Shakers corner caused panic, but neither side found a breakthrough as th

We are back on the road on Wednesday evening as we travel to Shifnal Town, aiming to turn recent draws into a return to winning ways while extending an impressive unbeaten run under Tim Lees. The Shakers come into the fixture on the back of consecutive league draws, results that have shown control but left a sense that more could have been taken. Shifnal Town will provide a stern midweek test. The hosts also shared the points last time out, drawing with Vauxhall Motors, and will be keen to bui

We’re off! Two wins in a row and the vast improvement in performance under the Gigg Lane lights on Tuesday suggest we’re finally on the move. The NPLW win against Runcorn Linnets was much more convincing than the 1-0 scoreline suggests. And we’ve gone from 18th to 8th in the table. Also encouraging was the attendance – not far short of 3,000 on an initially damp Tuesday evening. And so was the noise from the South Stand. Come on the Shakers?? You bet!! We were well on top for about 80 per cen

After two weeks of cup football, that saw us exit the FA vase after a tough battle with Whickham in the North East and progress in the Macron Cup following penalty shootout heroics from goalkeeping coach and reserve keeper Sam Ashton, we return to NWCFL premier league action this Saturday as we face Skelmersdale United away at The Community Ground in Burscough. Following the Ramsbottom game we were thrilled to receive a note from The ‘Rams’ Club Secretary, Tony Cunningham, praising the club

January comes to a close (we can’t believe it either), and we hope beyond hope that we can get a game on in what has felt like too long! The Shakers last took to the field almost two weeks ago when we dispatched Litherland REMYCA (highlights below) and in doing so, keeping up with those at the top of the league in the process. Due to the weather playing havoc with fixtures across the league, there has not been much change since with Wythenshawe Town remaining top by a point, with Wythenshaw

Nine games to go, and the run in has very much started – and started well. We go to South Liverpool’s Jericho Lane ground in a strong position after a run of six wins on the bounce. We turned the tables on West Didsbury and Chorlton, and the 2-1 scoreline didn’t reflect our dominance for most of the game. Nevertheless it was sweet revenge for the result in the reverse game just a few short weeks ago. What told in the end was the high quality and fighting spirit of our players. Josh Gregory’s

We return to league action tomorrow evening, with the visit of South Liverpool to Gigg Lane. Dave McNabb’s side made it 10 games unbeaten in all competitions, with a 2-0 win away at Garforth Town, booking in our place in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. Alex Cherera & Lewis Alessandra scored on either side of the break. Cherera now has five FA Cup goals this season. The draw has just been made for the next round, and we head to either Campion or Blyth Spartans in the

We’re top of the table and after seven successive league victories seem to be establishing a winning habit. That 7-0 hammering when we fielded a team of under-21s in the Isuzu FA Trophy was our last defeat. And we haven’t lost a league game since the end of August. It’s not only the results or the scorelines that give us confidence but the way we’re playing. In two successive matches – one against the team then top of the league – we’ve scored four goals in the first half-hour. It helped tha

Here. We. Go! After a fantastic pre-season, seeing us win seven out of our seven games with four clean sheets and only three goals conceded and 14 goals scored, against a mix of opponents from higher and lower divisions, we head into the new campaign looking sharp with one aim: Promotion to the Northern Premier League. Recruitment has gone well over the summer with many new faces coming in and some quickly on there way to already becoming fan favourites. We go into the first game with
