Despite the disappointing postponement of our last fixture, this weekend the team attention turns to the FA Women’s Challenge cup quarter-final. Bury’s last fixture in this competition against Manchester Laces was awarded as a home walkover. Rochdale gained their place in the quarter final by beating Mancunian Unity Reserves 7-0 last month. As for form coming into the game, our last fixture was an emphatic 5-1 win against Blackpool FC in the North West Women’s Regional League, with goa

It all looked very straightforward. After winning three out of four successive home games, we had a week to prepare for this away cup-tie. Then came the shock of having just 24 hours notice to replay the previous tie against Wythenshawe Town on Tuesday evening. Despite being unable to field our strongest team, we won again. We now focus on the weekend, the tie at Runcorn goes ahead, and we go into it with confidence on the back of a series of excellent performances. We beat the Linnets in o

With two wins from two games, Anthony Johnson’s side make the trip to Runcorn Linnets this Saturday in a promotion six pointer. The Shakers will look to build on their 2-1 against Bootle last Saturday, with Kai Evans hoping to extend his excellent returns of two goals in his last two appearances. Our opponents, Runcorn Linnets, sit third in the league after an excellent run of form, five points behind the top spot. Our last league meeting with the Linnets in early September ended in a 1-0 win

After our stunning fightback against Stafford Rangers, we travel to Runcorn Linnets for a replay of the game which had to be abandoned at half-time with the score at 1-1. Our last-gasp league victory at the weekend was the third in succession and took us to third place in the table, with 14 points from seven matches. It really was a great squad performance, with two of our three goals coming from Gabriel Johnson and Rustam Stepans just minutes after they’d come on as substitutes. That perf

We’re back to league action under the lights at Gigg Lane after Saturday’s encouraging Isuzu FA Trophy 3-1 victory over Wythenshawe Town. This was a good result against another team from the same league as ourselves – albeit below us in a table which at the moment is rather meaningless. We can expect the Linnets to provide a much tougher test. They are in fifth place with eight points from four games and still in the FA Cup. We currently lie in 18th place, having won one game, drawn two and l

As 2026 started perfectly for us against Stalybridge Celtic, we continue on the road as we take on Shifnal Town. Both sides have a narrow turnaround from their games on New Year’s Day, the Shakers picking up a 6-2 win, whilst Shifnal Town fell to a 2-1 defeat against Darlaston Town, their first defeat in five games. In the reverse fixture back in September, we picked up a 3-0 victory with second-half goals from DJ Pedro, Rustam Stepans & Tyler James. This game was originally scheduled

Under the interim management of Tim Lees, we head to Shropshire to face Shifnal Town as we kick-start a busy December of fixtures. Tim will be in the dugout, after a club restructure this week, moving Dave McNabb to a role of Head of Football Operations. Last time out we faced a goalless draw against Atherton Colls. Atherton threatened early, while we improved after halftime, with chances for DJ Pedro and Kai Evans. A late Shakers corner caused panic, but neither side found a breakthrough as th

After our 1-0 win at Wythenshawe Town, we take top position and are leaders of the Northern Premier League West division. This week, for the fourth time lucky, The Shakers are back on the road to face Shifnal Town for a long-awaited clash with the team who currently sit eighth in the league. This game was originally scheduled for Saturday 6th December but has since been postponed three times due to a waterlogged and frozen pitches at the Acoustafoam Stadium. We are back on the road on Wednesday evening as we travel to Shifnal Town, aiming to turn recent draws into a return to winning ways while extending an impressive unbeaten run under Tim Lees. The Shakers come into the fixture on the back of consecutive league draws, results that have shown control but left a sense that more could have been taken. Shifnal Town will provide a stern midweek test. The hosts also shared the points last time out, drawing with Vauxhall Motors, and will be keen to bui
