We can confirm that defender Aiden Walker has left the club by mutual consent.
Aiden returned to action at the Salford Van Hire Gigg Lane Stadium on Saturday, coming off the bench for the final 30 minutes against Wythenshawe in the Emirates FA Cup.
It marked a welcome return for the defender, who spent the majority of last season sidelined, following shoulder surgery, before further injury setbacks during pre-season.
Following discussions between Aiden and manager Anthony Johnson, the decision has now been made for the 26-year-old to leave the club and pursue regular first-team football.
Anthony Johnson said:
“Myself and Aiden had a chat last week and came to the agreement that he needs to be playing regular football at his age and at this stage in his career.
Unfortunately for Aiden he had been injured since the beginning of last September due to shoulder surgery and has only started one game for us in a year. He came back in a great place physically in the summer but picked up two separate hamstring injuries through pre-season, setting him back even further.
It was great to get him on the pitch at Gigg for half an hour on Saturday and see him in a Bury shirt again, but we both feel it’s the right time for him to find regular football and get himself back to where he was a couple of years ago.
I’d like to thank him for all of his efforts at the club, he’s been an absolute pleasure to work with and I wish him nothing but success and health for the future.”
