We are delighted to announce Brian Richardson has joined the club from FC United of Manchester. He joins the Shakers as Head of Recruitment, following the departure of Jimmy Holmes last week.

The 73-year-old, Bury born, has been associated with FC United since 2019 where he’s held roles such as assistant manager, and more recently Director of Football for the men’s team.

Richardson held roles on the touchline before this, having been manager at Prescot Cables for three years, as well as spells at Ashton Town, Daisy Hill & Bootle.

He was also assistant manager at Skelmersdale United, where he had worked for ten years.

In his playing days, Brian was a professional with Blackpool FC.

Brian offers a wealth of non-league experience in the dugout and behind the scenes, he will aid Dave McNabb with his contact book going into next season.

He will begin the role with immediate effect and will attend training to link up with the management and squad this evening.

Upon joining the club, Brian said: “Looking forward to a new challenge at Bury FC. Sleeping giant and everything moved quickly, and I didn’t even have enough time to say goodbyes to many friends at FC United. I hope I can play a part in helping Bury FC quickly climb the ladder back to where they belong.”

Manager, Dave McNabb added: “I’m really pleased with Brian’s appointment, he’s someone who I’ve had a lot of respect and admiration for over the years.

“Brian has an unparalleled wealth of knowledge and experience from working across multiple roles and clubs within non-league. He will be a huge asset to our football club going forward.”
