Bury FC is proud to announce a dedicated Month of Action in support of Mind the national mental health charity, with a series of fundraising matches and community events aimed at promoting mental wellbeing and reducing the stigma around mental health issues.

Kick-off at the Annual Fun Day – Saturday 21st June

The campaign begins during our much-loved Annual Fun Day on Saturday, 21st June, with two exciting charity matches:

  • Bury FC Supporters Team vs Holly’s Hearts
  • Bury FC Men’s Recreational & Vets vs MAN v FAT FC (Bury)

All proceeds from these matches will go directly to support the work of Mind at a local level, helping them provide essential services and support to those in our community who need it most.

Pre-Season Fixtures Dedicated to Mind – 12th & 13th July

As part of our pre-season window, we’ll be turning the spotlight on mental health again over the weekend of Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th July:

  • Saturday: Bury FC Men vs Chester FC
  • Sunday: Bury FC Women vs Chester FC Women (FSA Community-Owned Women’s Cup)

At both matches, representatives from Mind will be present and bucket collecting throughout the day. We encourage all fans to give generously and support the vital work this charity does.

Elle Cody, Fundraising & Marketing Manager at Rochdale Mind, said:

“We’re truly grateful that funds raised from the charity matches at Bury FC’s Fun Day will go to Rochdale and District Mind. It’s a powerful reminder of what local communities can achieve when they come together for a shared cause.

Launching the ‘Mind Month of Action’ with community-led support is exactly what’s needed to challenge stigma and make mental health support more accessible.

We’re especially proud to see such a strong focus on men’s mental health. For many, opening up can feel isolating; that’s why creating safe, supportive spaces for these conversations is so important. Seeing Bury FC champion mental health in its community is a huge step in the right direction.”

In Association with the FSA #YouAreEnough Campaign

These events are part of the newly founded #YouAreEnough initiative – a collaborative project between the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) and Mind, inspired by the fantastic work being done at Dunstable Town FC, another proud fan-owned club. The campaign focuses on promoting positive mental health, creating open conversations and building support networks within football communities.

Head of Operations, Casey Lynchey, said:

“At Bury FC, we’re incredibly proud to be part of this important initiative in partnership with the FSA and Mind. As a community-owned club, we believe in using football as a force for good and that includes supporting mental health and wellbeing. We want to create a culture where it’s okay to talk, to listen and to reach out. Promoting positive mental health is not just a campaign for us – it’s a commitment. Together, we can break the stigma and remind everyone that they truly are enough.”

Football Supporters’ Association representative for the campaign, Andrew Madaras, added:

“#YouAreEnough has been two years in the planning and sees the FSA work in support of Mind to raise awareness around mental health and tackle the stigma associated with poor mental health.

It’s been a cornerstone of what my club, Dunstable Town FC, has been doing since 2017. I am truly humbled that Casey & her colleagues at Bury FC have been such enthusiastic supporters of this campaign, and I’m absolutely delighted that we’re launching #YouAreEnough at Gigg Lane this Saturday as part of the Club’s annual Family Fun Day to kick off the month-long mental health awareness month.

Thank you for your support, Shakers. See you on Saturday.”

Elle Cody, Fundraising & Marketing Manager at Rochdale Mind, added:

“We are incredibly proud to be partnering with the #YouAreEnough campaign, with the Football Supporters’ Association working in partnership with Mind to support clubs in connecting with their local Minds to deliver meaningful mental health awareness.”
