We recently hosted the first meeting of our new Fans for Diversity group, bringing together supporters who are passionate about making football more welcoming and inclusive for everyone.
The group is part of the Fans for Diversity campaign, run by the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) and Kick It Out, which supports fan-led initiatives that promote equality and inclusion in football.
The inaugural meeting saw supporters come together to discuss their experiences of football culture, share ideas, and explore ways the group can help create a more inclusive environment at Bury FC. Discussions focused on how supporters can work alongside the club to ensure everyone feels safe, respected, and valued on matchdays and across the wider supporter community. Attendees highlighted the importance of celebrating diversity within the fanbase and helping ensure football remains open to people of all backgrounds.
The meeting was a positive first step, with attendees keen to continue developing the group and encouraging more supporters to get involved.
The next Fans for Diversity meeting will take place next week, and all Bury supporters are welcome to attend. If you are passionate about equality, inclusion, or simply believe football should be for everyone, we would love you to join the conversation and help shape this new initiative.
Next meeting: Thursday 19th March, 7pm
Location: Starkies Bar, Gigg Lane
Everyone is welcome!
