Bury Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of defender Curtis Obeng.
The 34-year-old has most recently been playing for Macclesfield.
Born in Stretford he started out his career at Manchester City aged 8 before being released in 2009 aged 20, after a two-year pro contract.
At the same time, Obeng was capped six times for England’s U19s.
He then moved into the National League with Wrexham where he made 96 appearances over three years, before signing for Swansea City.
During his time at the Liberty Stadium, he had loan spells at Fleetwood, York, Stevenage & Newport.
Following his release from Swansea in 2015, Curtis played in non-league again starting at Macclesfield Town, Altrincham, Solihull Moors & Nuneaton.
In 2020, Obeng joined Radcliffe followed by Macclesfield in the season they won the North West Counties Premier Division.
He made his Bury debut last Saturday against Glossop North End.
“I’m really happy to sign for Bury and be a part of the journey, Curtis said.
“It’s a huge club which never deserved any of what happened 4 years ago. I have no doubts in my mind that it will get back to where it belongs.
“We have a really strong team this year and a top manager and staff.
“The fans will be an important factor for us being that 12th man!
“The passion from their side on the opening day was amazing and I’m sure we’ll do them proud this year.”
