We are delighted to confirm the signing of Kai Evans from Nantwich Town for an undisclosed fee.
The 21-year-old attacker joins the Shakers on the back of a standout 2024/25 campaign, in which he scored 17 goals in the Northern Premier League West Division.
Evans started out at Stoke City before joining his hometown club Wrexham in 2021. He made just two first-team appearances for the Red Dragons before being released two years later.
In 2023, Evans signed for Nantwich, where he soon established himself as one of the most promising talents in non-league football.
In his first season in Cheshire, he scored 18 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions and won the club’s Young Player of the Season award.
A skilful forward with an eye for the spectacular, Evans netted a further 17 goals and provided six assists in 39 appearances last term, helping Nantwich to an eighth-placed finish. In addition to being the Dabbers’ top scorer, Evans won the club’s Player of the Season and Goal of the Season awards.
Evans was also recently named the NPL West Division’s Young Player of the Season, the NPL’s Rising Star, and runner-up in the NPL Supporters’ Player of the Season award. His stellar performances also earned him a place in the NPL West Division Team of the Season.
Upon signing, Evans said:
“I’m excited about this move to play for a club on a journey to move up the leagues with a massive fanbase.
“Once I met with the manager and viewed the stadium, I could feel the vision and this club is only going one way and that’s up the leagues.
“I’m buzzing and can’t wait to play in front of all the fans and show them what I can do. Let’s go.”
Dave McNabb added:
“Kai is a young and exciting forward who has the ability to get the fans off their seat. He joins us on the back of a brilliant season with Nantwich where he scored 17 league goals and won numerous NPL awards. Welcome to Bury, Kai.”
Evans becomes our sixth summer recruit, joining Scott Duxbury, Callum Spooner, Owen Robinson, Kieran Glynn and Kieran Lloyd in moving to Gigg Lane.
The signing is subject to NPL & FA approval.
