Bury Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of Oscar Threlkeld.
The 31-year-old arrives at Gigg Lane with a wealth of experience across the Football League and National League, having represented clubs including Bolton Wanderers, Plymouth Argyle, Salford City, Bradford City, and most recently Torquay United, where he captained the side.
Threlkeld, who can operate at right-back, centre-back, or in midfield, has amassed over 250 senior appearances since making his debut for Bolton in 2013.
A Radcliffe-born player, he brings not only leadership and experience but also a strong local connection as he returns to his hometown roots.
The Media team caught up with Dave McNabb who had the following to say about his new signing.
“I’m over the moon to get Oscar on board. There is zero doubt that he should be playing much higher up the pyramid and be in full time football.
“Oscar is a class act as a player and as a lad. In addition to his on pitch abilities he will bring an elite level mentality and attitude and will drive his sky high standards throughout the squad.
“This signing is a huge coup for us it couldn’t have come at a better time with us carrying a number of injuries particularly to some of our more experienced players.”
He’s made two appearances against the Shakers during his time in the EFL, once for Bolton and once for Plymouth – both times he was on the winning side.
The professionalism and leadership qualities he has are expected to make an impact as our debut season in the Northern Premier League continues.
We would like to extend a warm welcome to Oscar as he begins the next chapter of his career at Gigg Lane.
