We can confirm Head of Recruitment, Jimmy Holmes has joined National League North side South Shields.

Jimmy has written the following statement, reflecting on his time at the club: “It has been a privilege to work for this football club, The people here especially the supporters make it so special. To have had the opportunity to help build this fantastic group of players means a lot to me. I am leaving in the knowledge that the squad is in such great shape moving forward.

“I would like to thank Dave McNabb & Jon Newby for bringing me into the club. The chairman, directors & volunteers for making me feel welcome and all the support staff who without them the club wouldn’t be where it is today.

When I came in as Head of Recruitment I was asked to identify players that would fit the club moving forward. It’s been a pleasure to play a part in building the squad that is doing so well this season. Seeing the club sitting at the top of the league, leading the goalscoring charts hitting over 100+ league goals so far this season has made this a very difficult decision. The players & staff have been fantastic and are a credit to the club and themselves. The recruitment model will now allow the club to push on over the coming seasons whilst being sustainable and within budget.

“I can honestly say that this season has been one of the most enjoyable seasons I’ve had in football and I will miss everything about the club as I move on. It would be great to see them now go on and gain promotion this season. If I can help them in any way moving forward it would be my pleasure”.

Manager, Dave McNabb said: “I’m gutted that Jimmy has decided to move on, he’s been a huge part in where we are so this season and will be a big loss going forward. I’d like to place on record my thanks for all his hard work and would like to wish him good luck at his new club.”

Board member, Jon Newby added: “I’d like to personally wish him well in his new role. He has worked tirelessly to strengthen Bury Football Club on the pitch & the squad him & Dave have built is the strongest it has been in the last few years. It has been a pleasure to work alongside Jimmy and he will always be welcome at Gigg Lane.”

All at Bury Football Club would like to wish Jimmy all the best for his new role with South Shields.
