The arrival of Jimmy to a newly-created role is another significant development in implementing a new player recruitment strategy for the club.

Having enjoyed previous roles at Manchester City, Morecambe and most recently Macclesfield, Jimmy is vastly experienced and together with his contacts in the game and his track record in recruitment he is a valuable addition as we look to move forward as a club.

Working alongside manager Dave McNabb and his management team, Jimmy will oversee the structure for the identification of new players, including a regional and national scouting system.

Jimmy admitted that he was excited to be working for such an historic club:

“I’m delighted to be here. Bury is a massive club especially for the level that they currently find themselves at. Having spoken to the management and directors over the past few weeks, their vision and plans for the future made this opportunity something I just couldn’t turn down. It’s a similar project to what I took on 2/3 years ago when I was approached by Macclesfield to go in and build them a squad from scratch. With the help of some fantastic people at the club we went on to win back-to-back leagues and that is something that we aim to do again this time for Bury.

We’ve got to make sure we get the recruitment right moving forward. Players who can develop, and become sellable assets or move up the leagues with Bury. We were very successful at my previous clubs with this model. I’ll take a look at players who fit the remit of the club and then pass them onto the Manager, who will get the final say. It is, afterall, down to a Manager on team selection so it’s vital that they want that player moving forward.”

Welcome to Bury Football Club, Jimmy!
