It’s back to Gigg Lane this Saturday as The Shakers welcome Merseyside outfit Bootle, hoping to extend our lead at the top of the table.
With only seven games remaining in the season, and the promotion race heating up, Anthony Johnson’s side look to build on a brilliant performance last time out, when we got back to winning ways against Kidsgrove Atheltic.
Our opponents, Bootle, sit in 7th place, coming off the back of a week of mixed performances, beating Chasetown 1-0 last Saturday before being condemned to a 3-1 defeat at home to Stalybridge Celtic midweek.
The sides last met in November, when DJ Pedro rescued a point in a 1-1 draw at Berry Street Garage Stadium.
In Opposition – Bootle
Bootle FC were originally formed in 1880, and were the main rivals to Everton FC to compete in the Football League. With only one club per area permitted to compete in the newly formed league, Bootle FC lost out to Everton.
After a tough run, Bootle folded during the 1953-54 campaign, with the current club formed the same year, reclaiming the name Bootle FC in 1973. The club have been playing in the NPL West Division since promotion in the 2020-21 season.
Several former Shakers play for them, including Lewis Earl, Jack Lenehan, Declan Daniels and Josh Gregory.

There is no segregation for this fixture, but Bootle supporters are asked to purchase their tickets here.
Starkies will be open at the normal time of 12.30pm for supporters to access from the Manchester Road End entrance before kick-off. This will be on a first-come, first-served basis up to capacity, which will be managed on the door. Starkies will remain open throughout the game (for those in the main stand only) as well as after the game.
