  • Match Info: Longridge Town (A), Sat 5th Oct, 3pm KO

    LONGRIDGE-HOME-GRAPHIC-2024-240x300.jpg

Our visit to Longridge Town for a league match is in no sense a case of “back to the old routine” for the unbeaten Shakers. It will be a tough game against opponents who had a good start to the season but now desperately need to prove a point.

Town are more than aware that Bury go into the game after that dramatic Emirates FA Cup win at Radcliffe last weekend and a good result in a demanding midweek encounter with Chadderton.

In such a situation, a come-down in a real danger. But everyone at Gigg Lane has promotion as the No 1 priority for the season, so the game at Longridge is a Cup Final – just like every league game.

Last season, Bury took four points from their two games against Town, drawing 1-1 at home and winning 2-1 at Longridge.

Highlights and post-match interviews from Tuesday are available on our YouTube channel (links below)

We head up the M6, looking to make 20 unbeaten since the start of the season in all competitions. It’s 13th away game of the season – looking to pick up our 10th win on the road.

We’ve scored 39 goals on the road this season, averaging 3.25 goals per game.

Town’s last match on Tuesday was a 4-3 Macron Cup win on penalties after a 1-1 draw at home against Holker Old Boys. Before that, they’d lost three successive league games – against Abbey Hey and Squires Gate away and Litherland at home.

The Preston club was created in 1996 by the merger of two teams which had started life in the 19th century as church sides playing in different leagues. They progressed to the NWCFL’s Division One North in 2018, and scored 144 goals on their way to becoming champions in their first season.

Their aim now is to consolidate their position in the Premier Division, having finished in 19th position last season with 44 points from 46 games. They are currently in eighth position, having won eight and lost seven of their 15 games.
