Our trip to Newcastle Town begins the busy Christmas period of four games in 14 days. Tim Lees will lead the team to Stoke on Trent this weekend, as it was confirmed this week, he will lead the Shakers for the rest of the season.
The Shakers picked up a 2-1 victory last time out against Mossley, taking an early lead before being pegged back in an end-to-end first half. Chances came at both ends, with Shakers repeatedly going close. Persistence paid off late on as Gavin Massey’s close-range header sealed all three points.
Newcastle Town are without a win in five games, and come into this one off the back of a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Bootle.

Newcastle Town have played consistently at this level since the 2010/11 season, after their league title win in the North West Counties League and reached the playoff semi-finals in their debut season.
Across the last four seasons, they’ve finished between 14th & 16th. The club reached the semi-finals of the FA Vase in the 1999/2000 season.
