The manager-less Shakers head over to the seaside this mid-week in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division to take on Squires Gate at the Brian Addison Stadium, kick-off is 7.45pm.

A 2-1 defeat on Merseyside to Lower Breck on Saturday dropped us to fifth position in the league and as a result Andy Welsh left his post after three years at the helm of the club.

The show goes on and in quick fashion, with under-23s managers Leon Mike and Stephen ‘Sas’ Sheil taking charge for tomorrow night’s trip and applications being taken for the new manager’s position.

Squires Gate sit in 23rd going into the game, losing nine of the opening 12 but had a rousing come-from-behind win over the weekend when they defeated FC Isle of Man 3-2, thanks to three second half goals that led them to just a second victory of the season.

With a Bury side looking to bounce-back this week, Squires Gate have had tickets on sale which can still be purchased for pick-up on the gate and are now offering a CASH ONLY admission tomorrow night.

Squires Gate were formed in 1948 as Squires Gate British Legion FC and competed in the Blackpool & District Amateur League. ‘Gate’ are therefore celebrating their 75th season in 2023.

Managed by Luke Evans, the club has gone through quite significant change in recent years starting with the Covid pandemic, and the passing of chairman Tony Jo resulting in the club on just surviving during the summer of 2022.

Despite these troubles, the club has maintained its position in the Premier Division of the league, finishing 20th last season and avoiding the relegation trap door by five points. For more historical information on our hosts, click HERE.
