Dave McNabb didn’t mince his words after the 1-1 draw at Bower Fold, and now his team have a chance to put things right under the Gigg Lane lights on Tuesday evening.

It was a disappointing result after a muted performance, and McNabb apologised to the 1,000 fans who made the trip to Stalybridge.

They cheered the team from kick-off to final whistle, and that memory alone will motivate our players at Gigg Lane.

The draw gave us the chance to measure ourselves against a club from the top end of our new league. Success in the replay would give us a huge boost.

So, please – get along to Gigg Lane and get behind the lads. Be part of it. Up the Shakers!

In Opposition – Stalybridge Celtic

Celtic trace their history back to 1909 and have long been a strong non-league side in this part of the world. They have many successes to their credit – not least twice getting through to the FA Cup second round proper.

They were sixth in the league last season, and have made a decent start to the new season. Winning one and drawing one from their opening two league fixtures.

Former Shakers Ruben Jerome, Jordan Butterworth, Jack Tinning, Charlie Doyle and Andy Scarisbrick are all within the Stalybridge Celtic playing squad.
