It’s been a tough start to the season with both injuries and fixtures piling up and Saturday’s FA Trophy tie gave an opportunity for rest and recovery for many of our senior squad whilst giving an opportunity for our under 21’s to test their metal against strong opposition.
The scoreline did not reflect the enormous amount of effort and heart put in by the young shakers side – who had an average age around 18 – and we thank them and everyone who travelled to Runcorn to get behind them on Saturday. Just 24 hours later the under 21s went on to play their county cup tie coming away 11-1 winners!
Looking back at the NPL West league table, we remain well in touch with the league leaders sitting in seventh place with 14 points from seven games. Our opponents for this match are currently towards the bottom of the league with just four points from 10 games.
So here’s looking to pick up more points at the Flixton side’s Shawe View ground. We look forward to seeing as many Shakers as possible at Trafford and as always…. Be loud, be proud!
In Opposition – Trafford

Trafford have spent most of their 35-year existence playing at the upper end of the north-west non-league structure and ended the 2024-25 season in a commendable ninth place in the NPLW table.
They’ve struggled this time round, but their season took a turn for the better last Tuesday with their first point for a 1-1 draw at Witton Albion, followed by a 4-1 home win against Sporting Khasala on Saturday.
Two of Saturday’s goals came from new centre-forward Tom Lawrence, who went on as a sub in the 33rd minute. Lawrence was previously with Chester but was released at the end of last season.

Supporters should attempt to park away from the ground and walk a short distance to the match.
