In response to queries received from members, the below Questions & Answers fact sheet is provided:
Q. Do I need to move to Fanbase immediately?
No.
All current paid-up Society memberships remain valid. Over the next 12 months, all members will be asked to move their membership to Fanbase, but most members do not need to take any immediate action.
We will contact members as required throughout the migration process.
Q. If I remain on the old membership system, can I still vote in the Board Election and AGM?
Yes.
All paid-up members with a valid Society membership remain eligible to vote, regardless of whether they are registered on the previous membership system or through Fanbase.
As with previous elections, there are cut-off dates to be a member to enable voting for candidates or on resolutions at the AGM. For the 2026 election, memberships must be valid by the published deadlines:
- 5 November 2026 for the Board Election.
- 1 December 2026 for AGM resolutions.
Being on the old membership system does not affect your voting rights.
Q. Why are memberships moving to Fanbase?
Fanbase is already used by Bury FC for ticketing and provides a modern platform that allows members to manage their own details, payment methods and membership information.
Moving memberships and ticketing onto a single platform will make administration simpler and provide a better experience for members.
Q. Why can’t my membership simply be transferred automatically?
Data protection regulations require us to ensure that we have the appropriate consent and information from members on the new platform.
No data from the existing membership system will be migrated, transferred or pre-populated into Fanbase.
To complete the transfer, members must create or use their own Fanbase account and purchase their membership directly.
If you already use Fanbase for match tickets or season tickets, some of your information may already be held within your existing account, making the process quicker and easier.
Q. When should I move to Fanbase?
Monthly Members: We encourage monthly members to move when it is convenient to do so. Fanbase provides an easier way to manage your membership and payment details.
Annual Members: Annual members do not need to move immediately. We will contact you before your next renewal date and explain the transfer process.
Lifetime Members: To be eligible to vote in this year’s Board Election, Lifetime Members must register on Fanbase before 5 November 2026, as outlined in the correspondence issued directly to Lifetime Members.
Q. What happens to my membership when I move?
Moving to Fanbase is not considered a break in membership.
Once your new membership has been established, the membership team will update its records and close your previous membership record where appropriate.
Your continuous membership status will be maintained.
Q. Will I be charged twice?
No member should pay twice for the same membership period.
The Society is monitoring membership transfers throughout the migration process and is taking steps to prevent duplicate payments wherever possible.
If you believe a duplicate payment has been taken, please contact us immediately and we will investigate.
Q. Do I need to cancel my existing payment?
If you are unsure whether an existing payment arrangement remains active after moving to Fanbase, please contact the membership team.
Members who wish to do so may also cancel recurring payments directly through their bank.
If assistance is required, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
Q. How do I join Fanbase?
Click here to access the platform.
This will take you directly to the Fanbase membership page where you can create an account and choose the membership option that best suits you.
Please ensure your email address and postal address are accurate when creating your account.
Q. Why are there different membership prices?
Members can choose either monthly or annual membership, with fees remaining at £5 per month or £60 per year, in line with the previous membership arrangements.
There is also an optional higher payment amount:
- £66 annually instead of £60.
- £5.50 monthly instead of £5.
The additional amount is a voluntary contribution to help offset the additional costs associated with operating the membership platform.
Membership rights and benefits are exactly the same whichever option you choose.
Q. I am struggling to use Fanbase. Can someone help?
Yes.
We recognise that some members may be unfamiliar with the platform. We will be arranging support sessions and providing additional guidance during the migration.
Details will be published as soon as arrangements are confirmed.
Q. My question is not covered here. Who can I contact?
Yes.
Please email membership@fssb.co.uk
We aim to respond to all membership enquiries as quickly as possible.
