Dave McNabb has shared the latest injury news with supporters on the men’s first team squad.
James Neild has joined the club and will soon be ready for action. He had been carrying a small groin injury that we didn’t want to take any chances on and wanted him to be back and at 100% before he first puts on the famous white shirt. Expect to see James make an appearance for the Under 21’s at Gigg Lane on Sunday before being integrated into the first team when the opportunity presents itself.
Aiden Walker has unfortunately been given the news that he needs surgery on his shoulder. The medical team is working with Aiden to find the best surgeon possible and he has the full support of the club during his absence. Aiden will likely be unavailable for 10-12 weeks post surgery.
Scott Duxbury has now made a full recovery following the unfortunate incident that left him requiring surgery to insert two metal plates into his cheek to help secure a fractured cheek and eye socket. Scott has done all of his rehabilitation, has been back in to full contact training and is now ready for competitive action. It’s likely that Scott will go out on a short term loan for some game time.
Bobby Carroll is now back fit and available following an ankle injury suffered during the absconded game away at Runcorn Linnets. Bobby made his come back from the bench in Tuesday nights win over Wythenshawe Town.
Callum Spooner has started to step up his rehabilitation following a back injury and labral tear to his hip. It’s been a long, complicated and frustrating road to getting a diagnosis for Callum but now we have a full rehabilitation plan and he’s progressing as planned.
Owen Robinson continues to make progress following his ankle injury that has kept him out since preseason. Owen is due to start full contact training this week which is a huge milestone in his recovery. I expect him to be back in contention within the next 3-4 weeks.
Regan Riley has unfortunately suffered a very slight pull in his hamstring which will keep him out for about a week. We will continue to monitor Regan and hope he is back on the pitch as soon as possible to continue his brilliant form.
I’d like to say a huge thanks to the medical team, Aidan before moving on but particularly Alan Raw for his brilliant work with all of the injured players. Yes, it’s part of the game but the mental as well as the physical impact of being injured can have on players is immense. The lads knowing they are in the best hands possible makes it just that little be easier. I’d also like to thank the board for all their support in getting the players scans and external expert opinions to help diagnose the more complex injuries that we’ve suffered.
