New Season, New Kits – You Decide
Since announcing that kit partner, Hope + Glory Sportswear were to return for the 2023/24 season, the team at H+G have been hard at work in conjunction with the Interim board and operating football board to give members a fresh set of kit options for the new season.
In future, we will continue to make a commitment to keep our kits for two seasons, but for the 2023/24 season we will have two fresh kits as the ‘White & Blue Army’ makes the return to Gigg Lane. The options being put to members can be found here.
Home Kit
Ever conscious about our illustrious history, the kit designs have drawn on inspiration from the past with versions which have been sported by teams representing the club across the years, as shown below.

This season’s selections provide replica versions of our simple all-white shirts, with or without blue trim to the collar, and with a subtle nod to the chevrons that featured in the 90s. Or how about a kit that was worn in our visit to Wembley in 1995?

What will also be your choice, will be the shade of blue that features across the trim, shorts and socks. Will it be Royal or Navy Blue, for you?
As author of the The Official History of Bury FC Pete Cullen writes, we have flirted with both over the years:
“Despite playing in white shorts in the first two years of the club’s history, a shade of blue has been the predominant colour of this part of Bury’s kit since 1888.
“Navy was the colour of choice from 1888 all the way through to 1962. From then until 1986 the team wore royal blue, before the switch was made to a darker shade which lasted until 1994 when royal blue was reintroduced. Barring the 2009/10 125th anniversary season and the 2014/15 promotion season when white was the adopted colour, royal blue remained the colour of the team’s shorts until its last season in the Football League, when navy blue was chosen once again.“
Away Kit
When our home kit clashes with the opposition and we need to make a change, we have also taken inspiration from the past with how the team on the pitch represent us in the stands. A regular feature at the top of polls with any Bury supporter was the purple and green striped kit from 1994/95 season.
Hope + Glory have given us their take on the designs with three choices, again for members to select from.

New Signing: Djavan Pedro
We are delighted to confirm the signing of striker Djavan Pedro who joins the club on loan from Buxton until January.
The 20-year-old joined the National League North side after leaving Salford City in the summer, after four years at the club.
His time at Moor Lane started in 2020 joining the academy side.
DJ signed a professional contract in the summer of 2022. He started the season with Marine on loan before being re-called. Then going on loan to Radcliffe until the start of 2023, where he joined Stalybridge.
For the 2023/24 season, he spent his time at Warrington Rylands, where he was part of the team that reached the NPL Premier play-offs. He also made four appearances in the Salford City first-team across league and cup competitions.
Pedro has seven appearances and one goal to his name in the National League North this season.
Upon signing for the club, he said: “I can’t wait to start playing games and impress the fans with goals and assists.”
Manager Dave McNabb added: “DJ is a top quality striker and a player we’ve been trying to get through the door for a few weeks now. He leads the line well. He’s strong, quick, powerful and knows where the goal is. DJ will give us an additional option up top and some much needed competition.”

New Signing: Jacob Holland-Wilkinson
Bury Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of Jacob Holland-Wilkinson from Lancaster City, subject to league approval.
Jacob Holland-Wilkinson joins the Shakers Manager Dave McNabb swooped in to bring the talented attacking midfielder to Gigg Lane to bolster the engine room as we head into the business end of the season.
Bury-born Jacob, 21, is a Preston North End academy graduate, leaving Deepdale after reserve team appearances for the Lilywhites and in search of first team football. That search resulted in a move to Stoke City in 2022.
Appearences for the Under-21 side followed, as well as two loan stints with the Dolly Blues where he racked up a total of 10 appearances and two goals. Following release from Stoke, Lancaster signed him up permenantly in the summer of 2023.
So far this term, Jacob has scored three goals in 21 appearances in the Northern Premier League.

New Signing: Ollie Kilner
Bury Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of Ollie Kilner on loan from Oldham Athletic, subject to league approval.
Ollie Kilner – Image courtesy of Oldham Athletic The highly-sought after 19-year-old defender joins the club on a deal until the end of the season.
Kilner started his career as an 8-year-old at Manchester United where he captained his age groups through until Under 16s.
Following a broken leg, he signed a scholarship with the Red Devils before joining Oldham in July 2021.
Manager Dave McNabb says Kilner offers another option across the defence and midfield positions.
Ollie is expected to be involved in the matchday squad for Saturday’s trip to Litherland REMYCA. Tickets can be purchased here.

New Signing: Patrick Jarrett
Bury Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Patrick Jarrett.
The 22-year-old has joined the Shakers after leaving Scottish’s side Queen’s Park in the summer.
Born in Nantwich, he spent two years at Nantwich Town before moving into the academy at Stoke City, playing for the clubs up to the Under 21s before moving to Queen’s Park in 2022.
Jarrett is a versatile player and can play across positions in midfield. He also offers great skill and has contributed a lot to creating chances at his former clubs.
Manager, Dave McNabb added: “We’re really excited to see Pat settle in and show what he can do. I first watched Pat three years ago when he was on loan at Nantwich and he was outstanding.
“He’s had some brilliant experiences since then playing at a really high level. I’m hopeful he can add to our midfield options and help push us on towards our goals for the season.”
Jarrett will go into tonight’s squad for the Manchester Cup game against Abbey Hey.

New Sponsor: Wallwork Heat Treatment
We are delighted to welcome Wallwork Heat Treatment as a new sponsor for the 2024/25 season.
The Bury-based business has a sponsor board, formerly held by JD Sports in the Cemetery End as well as two banners on the front of the stadium.
The company was founded by Robert Wallwork in 1959, after years of gradual expansion the company moved to the present head office in Lord Street, Bury in 1979.
The Group employs approximately 300 people offering a comprehensive heat treatment & hard coating service to the manufacturing industry.
In recent years the group has invested extensively in new equipment and training in order to offer a high quality, competitive service to the aerospace, motorsport and medical industries.
Bury FC, CEO Neil Sears said: “We are delighted to welcome on board Wallwork as a new sponsor for the 2024/25 season. Having been in Bury since 1979, the group itself employs over 300 people offering heat treatment to the manufacturing industry. This is another example of a local business getting involved with supporting getting Bury FC back to the EFL, we are looking forward to helping us achieve our goals.”

New Women’s Manager: Jason Jarrett
Bury Football Club are delighted to confirm that Jason Jarrett has been appointed manager of our Women’s first team.
Jarrett was appointed interim manager last month but has now taken the role on a permanent basis.
Speaking to buryfc.co.uk about the appointment he said: “It was quite an easy decision. I thought I would give myself a bit of time to think about it because it’s a big commitment, but just being in and around the girls and working with Gaz & Dave who are going to be my assistants and working with Casey as well it just felt right. I’m really excited to get going.
Dave Heaney & Gary Pratt will join Jason’s coaching staff as his assistant managers, with Kelly Boag continuing in her role as goalkeeper coach.
Dave had a brief spell as a youth player at Bury in the early 1990s and featured in a fixture against Manchester City. He’s also been involved in local grassroots football in Bury over the last 30 years as a player, coach, manager & chairman.
Gary played alongside Jason during his grassroots football days at Roach Dynamos Juniors and is a lifelong Bury fan. He’s been involved in the Women’s game for the last eight years with Manchester Football Dreams in which he’s seen treble-winning success last season.
Both Dave and Gary are excited to get started.
“We’re both proud and super excited to get the opportunity to work alongside local Bury legend Jason Jarrett and hopefully together we can help Bury FC Women continue with their success.”
Head of Women’s Football, Casey Lynchey added: “We have a really strong management team in place, who are already making an impact with the team.
“We know this season is going to be more challenging than the previous two, but we have a strong team to further build upon and we have had some really exciting trialists down in pre-season too. There’s a real buzz around the place and the result against FC United last Sunday really lifted spirits too.
“This Sunday sees us host Bradford Women at Unsworth Cricket Club and we know it will be a challenging game but we are all looking forward to it and would love to get a good support down to watch.”

Nicky Adams Rejoins for Fourth Stint
We are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Nicky Adams from Radcliffe, and with it Nicky starts a fourth spell at Gigg Lane.
The 38-year-old began his footballing career with the Shakers, after coming through the club’s youth setup in the early 2000s.
He made his first team debut in October 2005 in a 1-0 win against Darlington, in what was a debut not only for him but the first game in charge for the then manager, Chris Casper.
Nicky scored the only goal of the game, which ended up being the first of 14 in his first spell at the club.
Casper spoke highly of Adams after his debut: “I’m made up for young Nicky Adams, as he has really worked hard on his game. He’s run himself into the ground for the team, and he took the goal well.”
Adams signed for Leicester City in 2008 This kind of performance was typical of the player, both on and off the field. His character was infectious, resonating with those in the stands and in the changing room-a-like. His abilities were noticed by a host of clubs and his first spell at Gigg Lane came to a close with a move to League One-side Leicester City in 2008.
He made his first return in May 2014 following spells at Brentford, Rochdale, Crawley Town and Rotherham United. This second stint only lasted a season, but his first promotion as a Shaker came with it, earning a top-three spot on the last day of the 2014/15 season at Tranmere.
Adams’ third spell began in the summer of 2018 when he joined a newly-relegated League Two side under the stewardship of club legend Ryan Lowe.
Nicky was the captain, leading by example and despite fantastic displays on the pitch, and another promotion to League One, (again at Tranmere), turmoil off the pitch spiralled the Shakers supporters into despair.
We left the Football League in the summer of 2019 after 125 years of membership.
Nicky spoke out on social media about the behind the scenes issues (left), but this was unable to prevent the downturn in club’s plight, with all players and staff eventually leaving the club after pay had been withheld for months.
Moving on again, Nick headed back to Northampton for a second spell, before returning north to Boundary Park and Oldham Athletic. Recently he joined Radcliffe, and helped guide them to promotion last season as Boro hit the National League North for the first time.
He reached 100 appearances for Boro earlier this month, and has over 750 appearances across an extensive 22-year career to date.
To date Nicky has made 191 Bury appearances, scoring 19 goals. We are sure you will be looking forward to welcoming him back to Gigg Lane once again.
The agreement is subject to FA and league approval, with Nicky going into Dave McNabb’s squad this week once this has been confirmed.

Following the North West Counties Football League (NWCFL) Annual General Meeting over the weekend, it has been confirmed that there will again be 24 teams making up the Premier Division next season.
Over 70,000 supporters came through the Gigg Lane turnstiles across last season and we are now pleased to confirm ticket details for the new season for all supporters.

Season tickets prices account for all 23 home league games (including VAT) and are able to be purchased in either the Main Stand or South Stand only. You have until 10th July to purchase if you want a printed Season Ticket card. Purchases after that date will be digital ticket only.
U16 Season Ticket Giveaway: We will be holding an event at Gigg Lane on Saturday 22nd June from 11am, where there are 100 free U16 season tickets to be given away. More details will follow this week, so put this date in your diary.
Reserved Seating: Supporters will be required to select their seat when purchasing online this season. Seats selected will be noted as ‘Reserved’ for all league games. Select the ticket you require to purchase, this opens up the Gigg Lane plan and from there you will be able to select your block of choice, and then row / seat number. Example provided below.
Step 1 – Choose your ticket Step 2 – Choose your block Step 3 – Choose your seat Whilst we are permitting season ticket holders to reserve seats, there are occasions where we may need to ask people to change seat. We are completing some further work on the Main Stand so this is the most likely stand to require changes. However, we will try to ensure that an alternative seat is made available in the same stand.
We have also blocked out a few sections which are not available for reservation. These are the hospitality and press areas in the Main Stand, and Blocks A and B in the South Stand, which will continue as the singing section. Anyone wishing to use Blocks A or B are advised to reserve a seat in South Stand Block J when choosing a ticket.
We have also blocked out Blocks H and I in the Main Stand so that we can use this for away supporters, and save the cost of opening another stand for what will usually be a small number of away fans.
Please take care when choosing your seat as we are unable to change it for you after purchase.
The position of the pitch is shown by the green strip marked ‘Field’ which shows which way you will be facing. We have tried to use all the old row and seat numbers so it is as accurate as we could make it.
If you decide you don’t like your seat there will be plenty of unreserved seating available.
Purchasing more than one ticket: Season ticket purchases will be linked to the email address used at the time of purchase. The club may sometimes use the ticketing platform to contact ticket holders, for instance regards match updates or changes. Where tickets are purchased for separate households, we therefore recommend the use of individual email addresses to provide better communication links.
Live Streaming: Included in all season tickets is access to any available Live Stream* from Gigg Lane.
Access for this service is linked to the email address used to purchase the season ticket. To ensure receipt of your access, please ensure the email address input is correct for each ticket purchase. Multiple tickets purchased with the same email address will receive communications to the noted email address only.
*not including Saturday 3pm kick-offs broadcast during the ‘blocked hour’ directive set out by UEFA.

Physical Season Tickets: All season ticket orders received by 10th July, will be printed onto a season ticket card that will be available to pick up from Gigg Lane in early August. Admission can be accessed via either the digital QR code or physical cards in this case.

Cash Season Ticket Sales: Where accessing season tickets online is an issue (eg email availability or unable to pay by card), the club are this season able to provide supporters with the option of paying by cash at Gigg Lane.

Disabled Supporter & Carer Tickets: We have used the best practice guidance set out by Level Playing Field for ticketing and seating management for disabled supporters, as well as input from a small number of our own disabled fans and those at other clubs. This follows the concept of making a more considered ‘reasonable adjustment’ rather than just a concession on price.
In accordance with this guidance, anyone with a disability requiring the assistance of a carer will be asked to purchase a ticket at full price, which then allows for a free carer ticket for someone to escort them to the game.
Purchasers of free carer tickets will be contacted by email to provide evidence of disability which can be one of the following documents:
Receipt of the mid-rate care element or the high-rate mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance (DLA), War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement or Personal Independence Payments (PIP). Receipt of either the Severe Disablement Allowance or Attendance Allowance. War Pensioners’ Mobility Allowance or War or Service Disablement Pension for 80% or more disability. Blind or partially sighted registration certificate (BD8 or CVI Certificate). Further advice can be found on the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) website. Confirmation in writing from Social Services that the individual is included on their Deaf Register, or a letter or report from an aural specialist confirming that hearing loss has been recorded at 70 – 95 dBHL or worse. Confirmation in writing from Social Services that the individual has a learning difficulty or disability. For children – a letter from the head teacher at a their school confirming eligibility will be acceptable.
We reserve the right to cancel carer tickets where evidence is requested and not produced.
There will be 30 blue badge holder car parking spaces available within the Gigg Lane car park, able to be secured for the season for FREE. Details on how to secure one of these will be provided in the coming days.
NB: Please note we have a bug in the online system which doesn’t allow carers to choose from any seat, we are working to fix this.

NWCFL Premier Division Club & GK of the Month
We are delighted to announce that Harry Wright has again been named January NWCFL Premier Division Goalkeeper of the Month sponsored by Reusch UK. He also picked up the award in October last year.
Harry was in the team for the three games played in the month, with wins in all. Clean sheets in against both Irlam and Litherland, until the only blot on the copybook being the single goal conceded against Skelmersdale. Thankfully, 10 had gone in the other end!
As well as Harry picking up his award, the club are thrilled to be awarded the ‘Club of the Month’ for the first time this season, in reflect of results on the pitch during the same period.
19 goals and nine points were enough to seal the prize which was awarded when league chairman, Paul Lawler, and League Development Officer Charlie O’Brien visited Gigg Lane on Saturday for the game against Burscough.

NWCFL Premier Division GK of the Month: Harry Wright
We are delighted to announce that Harry Wright has been named NWCFL Premier Division Goalkeeper of the Month for October 2023.
Harry made his debut for the club last month, in a 4-0 victory against Wythenshawe Town.
The month continued, with a 1-0 victory against Squires Gate and a second consecutive clean sheet for the son of former Manchester City & Ipswich goalkeeper Richard Wright.
October concluded with a third consecutive clean sheet and a penalty save for Wright in a tough away test at West Didsbury & Chorlton. His penalty save at 1-0 to Bury (see below), allowed the side to go on and win 3-0 and there for complete the month in style.
In the six league games played in October, the Shakers have kept four clean sheets, three of which were kept by Wright.

NWCFL Premier Division Player of the Month: Declan Daniels
We are delighted to announce that Declan Daniels has been named NWCFL Premier Division Player of the Month for Decemeber 2023.
Following his move from Irlam in early December, the striker has won Man of the Match from the opponents in each game, scoring three goals in the process, making him the easy choice for the league award last month.
His form has continued into 2024 so far also, taking his tally to six goals in total, as well as adding a further Man of the Match award against his old club the first game of 2024 – bagging a penalty in the process.
This is our second league recognised award of the season, after Harry Wright’s goalkeeper award in October. Well done Dec, keep it up!

Once, Twice, Three Times a Contract Extension
In the words of Lionel Richie, we are delighted to confirm three players that have extended their contracts for the 2023/24 season.
Starting with the No.1, it’s Jack Atkinson.
The 22-year-old Welsh shot-stopper has been integral to Andy Welsh’s side over the past two seasons, clocking up 98 appearances.
Atkinson signed for the club in July 2021 and has been a fan favourite ever since. Making the big saves along the way and can’t forget banging the drum in the Isle of Man.
Last season he picked up the North West Counties Division One North Goalkeeper of the Year award.
Jack’s aims are clear to see ahead of the new campaign.
From the backline to the forward line, we are delighted to extend the contract of winger Connor Comber.
The 23-year-old joined the club in August after leaving Atherton LR and signed a contract in December until the end of the 2022/23 season, which has been extended for a further year.
Comber knocked up 45 appearances last season, with the second most goal contributions amongst the squad, scoring 18 goals and supplying five assists.
He’s also been on-trial in the last 18 months at EFL side Queens Park Rangers, so he’s a player we are delighted to retain.
Another player that’s re-signed from the forward line is Lewis Gilboy.
The 23-year-old joined the club in August 2020 after being released by Accrington Stanley.
He also had non-league experience before coming to join Andy Welsh’s team after playing 10 games for City of Liverpool just before the pandemic in March 2020.
Lewis had the most goal contributions last season, with 32. Scoring 22 and assisting a further 10.
He’s also the second highest on the appearance charts with a 105 apperances.
Manager Andy Welsh commented on the three contract extensions.

Open Training Session – Thurs 13th July, 6.30pm
Bury Football Club are delighted to confirm plans for an Open Training Session ahead of the 2023/24 season.
The session will take place on Thursday 13th July at Gigg Lane, doors will open from 6pm, with the session taking place from 6:30pm on the pitch, with the session due to last for approximately an hour.
Afterwards, there will be opportunities for photographs with your favourite players.
We will be giving away 100 junior season tickets* on the night, so get down early to grab the chance to get yours!
We will also be hosting a prize draw on the night, with your chance to win some top prizes including a new home and away shirt and a matchday mascot package.
Andy will be visiting schools across the borough to promote this initiative as he aims to get as many children down to Gigg Lane ahead of the season. Enquiries are to be directed to media@buryfc.co.uk.
*Juniors aged 11 and under will be required to be accompanied by an adult for any games at Gigg Lane.

Open Training Session huge success
Last Thursday’s Open Training Session at Gigg Lane was a huge success with over 500 local children attending.
The queues began around 90 minutes before gates opened with every child looking to get their hands on one of the 100 free season tickets available. At the time the gates opened, the queue stretched the length of the car park from the Cemetery End entrance towards the South Stand.
The free season tickets were like gold dust, and most were snapped up within minutes of the start of the session.
Andy Welsh’s squad trained for around an hour under the evening sun, following the session the players took photos and signed autographs with fans.
Our Women’s first team were also in attendance, they too had photos and gave autographs in the crowd.
A number of raffle prizes including replica shirts and matchday mascot packages were given out at the end of the training session.
Football Board Chair, Marcel de Matas said: “The open training session, exceeded expectations, with 500 children in attendance alongside their parents, many visiting Gigg Lane for the first time. There was a real buzz about the ground, with children eager to interact with the players and obtain signed shirts and footballs.
“This event truly exemplified the excitement and enthusiasm for the return of football to Gigg Lane, and hopefully shows the potential interest from young people in watching their local team.
“It’s now critical that we build upon these strong foundations, ensuring that we continue to engage the wider Bury community, whilst growing a fan base fit for the future.”

Own The Turf & Penalty Spot Raffle
A new era ensues as work to lay our new state-of-the-art 3G pitch begins, with sales of the Gigg Lane turf and penalty spot raffle now having finished.
All of turf is now cut up and in their seed trays ready for collection from the stadium.
For those that have purchased a piece of the hallowed Gigg Lane turf they will be available to collect at the following times this week:
1 pm – 3 pm Wednesday 8th 12noon – 3pm Thursday 9th 12noon – 3pm Friday 10th 4.30pm – 6.30pm Friday 10th We urge collection as soon as possible.
The draws for the Penalty Spot Raffle will be made later today, after which we will communicate direct to the winners.

Partner Programme – Bury Black Pudding Company
We are delighted to confirm Bury Black Pudding as a new Local Club Partner, as part of our partner programme.
The Bury Black Pudding company was born in the early 00s, but had much heritage before that with the family of one of the company directors having the recipe in his family for over 100 years.
They produce over 100 tonnes of black pudding each week at their Bury-based factory.

PITCH INSPECTION: Glossop North End (H)
With continuing rain in the Bury area over the past couple of days, today’s uncover of the pitch has exposed some areas of concern and a pitch inspection has been able to be arranged for first thing on Saturday morning.
The ground staff and volunteers were on hand to remove the covers this afternoon after the rain stopped. They continue to work on the pitch to alleviate these problems and we hope for the weather to match predictions overnight and give it the best chance to drain.
An update will be provided tomorrow as soon as we know the results of the inspection.

Pitch Inspection: Padiham (H)
There will be a pitch inspection at 11:15 am due to concerns over the playing surface at Gigg Lane.
Concerns were raised before Thursday’s game and due to weather before and during the game the pitch deteriorated quite badly, with only light remedial work having taken place yesterday due the pitch condition.
We want to make sure that the surface is both safe and playable for both teams.
If the pitch is deemed playable tickets will go back on sale for the South Stand, with pay on the day available in the Cemetery End.
We will update as soon as we can after the referee has inspected the pitch.
