It’s been a long hard season for all concerned at Bury Football Club with our first team falling heartbreakingly short in a playoff final penalty shootout against Wythenshawe Town. Following discussions with organisers this week, we can confirm the cancellation of the Manchester Remembers charity football match at Gigg Lane on June 14th, 2025. As a club, we were honoured when Aaron & Paul approached us with the offer of hosting this year’s match, but circumstances beyond the organisers control mean the fixture won’t take place. Tickets bought through our TicketCo platform will be refunded, that process will begin immediately, and monies should be returned within 30

We are delighted to extend the contract of winger Connor Comber. The 23-year-old joined the club in August after leaving Atherton LR and signed a contract in December until the end of the 2022/23 season, which has been extended for a further year. Comber knocked up 45 appearances last season, with the second most goal contributions amongst the squad, scoring 18 goals and supplying five assists. Jack is Back! The 22-year-old Welsh shot-stopper has been integral to Andy Welsh’s side over the past two seasons, clocking up 98 appearances. Atkinson signed for the club in July 2021 and has been a fan favourite ever since. Making the big saves along the way and can’t forget banging the drum in the Isle of Man. Last season he picked up the North West Counties Division One North Goalkeeper of the Year award. Jack’s aims are clear to see ahead of the new campaign.  

We are happy to announce the Lewis Gilboy has extended his stay with the Shakers putting pen to paper for the coming season.   The 23-year-old joined the club in August 2020 after being released by Accrington Stanley.   He also had non-league experience before coming to join Andy Welsh’s team after playing 10 games for City of Liverpool just before the pandemic in March 2020.   Lewis had the most goal contributions last season, with 32. The FA have given notice today, that Bury FC will compete in both the FA Cup & FA Vase during the 2023/24 season.   As a two-time FA Cup winning club in 1900 & 1903, we will enter the competition at the Extra Preliminary Round stage on Saturday 5th August.   The draw for which will be announced next Friday (7th July).   The FA Vase is the competition played between all the teams at Step 5 and Step 6 of the National League System. The competitive season is finally here! We welcome South Liverpool to Gigg Lane for our Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round tie. We had an outstanding run in the competition last season, reaching the Fourth Qualifying Round – before losing narrowly to Harborough Town. Our pre-season has been solid, rounding it off with a 3-1 victory against Wigan on Tuesday night. All about taking that momentum into the competitive action.
