It’s never a dull week of footballing action when the Shakers are concerned. After having to replay our previous FA Trophy tie due to player ineligibility, we now face a re-arranged fixture against Runcorn Linnets on Tuesday night. More details to follow on that one, but first, we face off against Stafford Rangers in the league. The 45 minutes against Runcorn last weekend gave Oscar Threlkeld & Reece Kendall their Shakers debuts, Reece for the second time, also Gavin Massey’s first Shake

The season has opened with balance and belief, and the next stop on the path is Stalybridge. Four points from a win and a draw; two goals scored – both by central defenders – and only one conceded. Now it’s on to the Emirates FA Cup against opponents from the same league. It’s early days, but so far we and Celtic have identical records – a win and a draw – so a highly competitive clash is guaranteed. It was a tough game at Avro on Wednesday. Both teams had chances to clinch it, and

We start 2026 on the road as we take on Stalybridge Celtic at Bower Fold. This will be our fourth meeting with them this season, following encounters in the FA Cup (twice) and the league in quick succession back in August. Tim Lees brings his side into this fixture on the back of three consecutive wins, becoming the first Shakers manager since Lee Clark to boast a 100% record after three games in a full season. Boxing Day saw a 2–0 victory over Clitheroe, courtesy of goals from Rustam Stepans

Three games in nine days – it doesn’t happen too often at this level, but we will once again face Stalybridge Celtic for our Bank Holiday Monday fixture at Gigg Lane. The Shakers will be looking to make amends for last Tuesday’s Emirates FA Cup defeat and pick up all three points. We picked up a point on the road at Congleton Town on Saturday. Radcliffe loanee Regan Riley made his Bury debut, as he begins his three-month loan spell, you can hear more from him below. Manager Dave McNabb

Dave McNabb didn’t mince his words after the 1-1 draw at Bower Fold, and now his team have a chance to put things right under the Gigg Lane lights on Tuesday evening. It was a disappointing result after a muted performance, and McNabb apologised to the 1,000 fans who made the trip to Stalybridge.   They cheered the team from kick-off to final whistle, and that memory alone will motivate our players at Gigg Lane.  The draw gave us the chance to measure ourselves against a club from the top

After that great win at home to Lower Breck, we face a different kind of challenge – a team even newer to this league than we are, and packed with lively young players. Lower Breck were beating everybody in sight, but we beat them in some style. The first half was probably our best 45 minutes of the season so far. Yes, we gave them a window of opportunity by sitting back at 3-1. But we made it, and overall were the better team by some distance.   The last six weeks have been toug

Shakers go into their midweek home game against Stockport cock-a-hoop after Saturday’s convincing 3-0 Isuzu FA Vase victory over Burscough. The result never looked in doubt after Reuben Jerome opened the scoring in the seventh minute. There were elements of luck in the goal, but it was reward for shrewd use of the long ball against a shaky defence.   It was all over bar the shouting by half-time. Defender Ben Hockenhull notched the second from close range following a free kick in the

69 days after winning the Northern Premier League West Division at Atherton Colleries, the Shakers kick start their 2026/27 Season with a trip to local side Tottington United to start our pre-season campaign. Anthony Johnson has lined up a mix of opponents to get us back into the swing of things and it all starts on Friday evening at St Anne’s. With a busy schedule ahead of us, a Bury XI will feature in the game with the squad made up of first team players, U21s and trialists. Check out what

It’s been a tough start to the season with both injuries and fixtures piling up and Saturday’s FA Trophy tie gave an opportunity for rest and recovery for many of our senior squad whilst giving an opportunity for our under 21’s to test their metal against strong opposition. The scoreline did not reflect the enormous amount of effort and heart put in by the young shakers side – who had an average age around 18 – and we thank them and everyone who travelled to Runcorn to get behind them on Satur
