The club has today received the resignations of both Phil Young (FSSB Chair) and Marcel De Matas (FSSB Board Member & Football Chair). Phil will not stand for re-election in the upcoming Football Supporters Society of Bury (FSSB) elections and will depart the club after over four years as chair, of first Shakers Community, and then FSSB from 2023. Following a meeting of the Football Board earlier this week, an interim chair has now been appointed. Current vice-chair Gareth Castick will assume the role, with support from all other members – Adam Ingram, Tania Jackson, Casey Lynchey, Jon Newby and Jon Wiggans alongside Interim Secretary Ian Coyle. We are delighted to announce Brian Richardson has joined the club from FC United of Manchester. He joins the Shakers as Head of Recruitment, following the departure of Jimmy Holmes last week. The 73-year-old, Bury born, has been associated with FC United since 2019 where he’s held roles such as assistant manager, and more recently Director of Football for the men’s team. We can confirm the departure of forward Bryan Ly, who has joined Wythenshawe FC for an undisclosed fee. Bryan joined us last summer from the club he’s returning to. He made 49 appearances in a Shakers shirt, scoring 16 goals. His energy, determination, and professionalism quickly made him a favourite among teammates and supporters alike.
