Midfielder Bobby Carroll was disappointed with the result, in last night’s 1-1 draw with FC St Helens.
Bobby said, “It was a tough one to take and yeah it was a disappointing result I thought we started the game okay and then we got a bit sloppy it was just very stop-start, obviously with lots of fouls here and there and the ball going out of play, so it just took us a while to get going and then we got the goal in the first half and then got to half time 1-0 up and then it went a bit downhill from there and then they got an early goal in the second half and that killed our momentum a little bit but we’ll put it right Saturday.”
Bobby spoke about his return to the starting eleven after missing the last few games through injury.
“It’s really good to be back, I picked up a little ankle injury in training last Thursday, but it didn’t feel too bad tonight so yeah it’s good to get the ninety in me.”
Bobby then reflected on the opposition’s performance tonight: “I thought they played well obviously they were looking to hit us on the counter and they did that a few times and I think we got a bit lucky a few times in the second half especially as we were lobbing a few players forward to try and get the winner and that’s what can happen they can hit you on the counter and that’s what they did so credit to them they played well.”
Carroll added, looking ahead to the weekend: “It’s really big on Saturday, and we definitely need the three points. With us dropping points tonight, it’s big we put it right on Saturday and get the three points. And yeah, we’ve got a run of home games coming up to Christmas, so it’ll be good to get all the fans in the stadium to get behind the lads, and hopefully we keep kicking on.”
