The Shakers had a tough night on Merseyside after a 3-1 defeat away at Litherland, Manager Dave McNabb gave us his thoughts on the game when speaking to the club.

Dave McNabb: I thought the performance from start to finish was an absolute disgrace, I don’t want to take anything away from Litherland I thought they were excellent, they battled and worked hard for each other and had real quality what caused us problems when they went forward so I don’t want to take anything away from them but I thought we were an absolute disgrace we embarrassed ourselves and the fans and I can only really apologise to them, there aren’t any more words I can say for that other than sorry and I can promise it won’t happen again.”

Dave then spoke about the decision to stick with the same starting 11 from the game against Burscough he said “On Saturday I thought the first half was really good and I decided to stay with the same team, I think that’s on me and it was the wrong selection and it was the wrong shape, there was no men out there and you’ve seen that today and some of the performances where they allowed men to run at them and they allowed themselves to be outbattled and outfought and it’s not good enough and it won’t be accepted.”

He then spoke about how Bury needs to respond ahead of this weekend clash against Colne, he said “It’s now on the staff and me, we’ve identified some vulnerabilities I think there have been occasions in games where we’ve been excellent and you’ve seen the odd vulnerability and it’s happened and we’ve kind of had the performances around that to plaster over it and the two games we’ve lost its been the same things and if we continue to allow that to happen it’s on me and it’s on the staff so like I’ve said it won’t be happening again.”

Dave then spoke about what new signing Nicky Adams could add to the club him saying “If he could’ve been here tonight you would’ve seen a man on the pitch, you would have seen a leader, unfortunately, because of circumstances outside of anyone’s control, he wasn’t here tonight but it’s a massive signing for the club I’m just a little bit gutted that tonight overshadowed it because it should’ve been a celebration welcoming Nicky back to the club but it’s our job to put it right on Saturday with him involved.”
