After signing for the club in mid-October midfielder Patrick Jarrett spoke to club media for the first time following the FC St Helens fixture last night.

Jarrett reflects on what attracted him to join a club like Bury. “It’s a big team at this level and they aspire to get back into the football league and the fanbase is good here and obviously the coaches and backroom staff is brilliant and there’s a really clear vision of where we want to go.”

Patrick than spoke about what it has been like bedding in with his new teammates.

“It’s a massively talented squad and there are players in here who could go on to have a real career and there’s also a lot of experience and talent, the boys have been fantastic and made me feel welcome from the get-go.

“I’ve had a long time out with injury I haven’t kicked a ball in 10 months before coming here so it’s been a bit of an adjustment and that’s been kind of difficult but Daves been brilliant with me and the first game I played was with the U23s which was nice just to get a feel for it and to get back on the pitch but the lads have been brilliant.”

He then reflected on the 1-1 draw with St Helens “I have never seen a football game where we have had about four off the line and that is something we need to work on and we’ve said it before but these are the types of games where we need to be clinical and we need to put teams to the sword because we play some good stuff and we get in good areas and it’s just that final bit but it is the toughest part but if we tidied up that bit and put teams to the sword we could’ve had five or six today.”

Patrick than gave his thoughts on the fans since joining the club.

Patrick Jarrett: ”Amazing to be fair I came to watch the FA Cup game at Radcliffe and I couldn’t believe the away support everywhere it was all Bury supporters and it’s the same home or away it’s been fantastic and it’s amazing the support the boys have and it’s about going out and performing for them because they spend their money to go to the games and it’s about putting on a show for them obviously tonight it was a bit sad we didn’t get five or six but who’s to say we won’t do that next game.”

Jarrett looked ahead to Saturday’s trip to AFC Liverpool.

“100% I think we’d be stupid to not go into every game thinking we’d win because that’s the talent we have with this squad and that’s the aspirations we’ve got and set and it’s a clear vision we have we should be going into every game and looking to pick up 3 points and Saturday’s no different so hopefully we put on a good show.”
