It’s not just the Men’s first team that lifted a trophy this season as our Women’s first team capped off their campaign by lifting the North West Women’s Regional League Plate on Sunday.
Two first half goals from Ellie Cook and Ava Hanson saw Jason Jarrett’s team take a 2-0 lead into the break against FC St Helens at Chester’s Deva Stadium.
Substitute Nia Wharton added a third midway through the second half before Cook put the icing on the cake in the 89th minute to seal the victory.
It caps off a perfect campaign for the Shakers, which started with a walkover against Macclesfield, that saw them concede 0 goals on their way to victory.
The run to the trophy included a 7-0 win against Winton Wanderers before dispatching Fleetwood Town 9-0.
A 1-0 away win at Poulton saw them secure their spot in the final before the win against FC St Helens on Sunday.
Speaking about the cup success manager Jason Jarrett said: “Winning the plate trophy has capped off a fantastic run of form!
We feel like we have made huge progress these last few months and the determination and mindset of the players has been rewarded with a trophy for all their hard work.
On Sunday, the girls gave me one of my proudest moments in football and I’m sure we will create more memorable moments in the future.
I’d like to thank our staff and coaches, as well as the behind-the-scenes staff Kirsty, Lisa and Casey – who do amazing work for us that goes unseen but their work means we have a setup that many of the teams at our level and above are envious of. I’d also like to thank all the volunteers and fans who have supported us throughout the season.
Lastly I’d like to thank my back room staff Mike, Joe and India who have been fantastic additions to our coaching team this season. Sunday was made even more memorable for me by sharing it with my right hand man Gary Pratt, we’ve been friends for over 30 years and his support and knowledge is priceless.
We will now enjoy the off season but we are so excited to bring even more success to this amazing club!”
