Following back to back wins in our opening fixtures in the North West Counties Premier Division our focus now shifts to the FA Cup and the first fixture in this history-steeped competition back at Gigg Lane in over four years.

After confident performances on both the opening day against Glossop North End and Colne this Tuesday (highlights below), Andy Welsh’s men have set off out of the blocks at blistering pace with eight goals in the opening two games.

In what promises to be a fantastic occasion as we welcome FA Cup football back to Gigg, the Shakers will actually enter the hallowed turf as the “away” side due to the fixture being shifted from Uttoxeter’s OldField Sports Ground due to concerns over managing a large crowd.

That being said we look forward to hosting Uttoxeter, their fans, volunteers, staff and players this coming Saturday.

So Shakers, get down in numbers. BANG that drum and let’s make Gigg roar!!!

In Opposition – Uttoxeter Town F.C
The club was formed in 1972 when they split from Uttoxeter Amateurs after a disagreement on the club’s location. The club joined the North Premier Division of the Staffordshire County League. In the late 1970s the club switched over to Sunday league football but in 2012 the club switched back to Saturday football and joined the Staffordshire County Senior League.

The 2012–13 season saw the club win Division One and became founding members of the Midland Football League in 2014–15. Despite finishing fifth in the division, the club dropped back down to the Staffordshire County Senior League for financial reasons. In their first season in the Staffordshire County Senior League the club entered the FA Vase for the first time, progressing to the third round before being eliminated by Coleshill Town. The prize money they earned from their FA Vase cup exploits enabled them to overcome their financial issues and they re-joined Division One of the Midlands league the following season.

In 2021, Uttoxeter were promoted to the Premier Division based on their results in the abandoned 2019–20 and 2020–21 seasons.
  Tickets & Admission
Tickets are now on sale for Saturday’s FA Cup game against Uttoexter! We are opening the South Stand and monitoring sales currently, as well as making a number of 1885 Suite tickets available in the Main Stand.

There will be an admission gate taking CASH & CARD payments, but if you can and buy in advance we still recommend doing so.

All seating in the South Stand is UNRESERVED.

Bury Football Club are delighted to confirm Xcede IT as the club’s IT service provider.

The company specializes in IT Support, Cyber Security, Microsoft 365 & Cloud, Backup, Telephony and Connectivity.

It was founded by a team with multiple years experience of working in IT, who were passionate about providing a personal and responsive service to their clients.

The group had seen how companies already in this field were causing more problems than they were solving, and whose approach was based on sales rather than solutions, they saw that the key to a successful relationship was creating a proper partnership based on trust, delivering solutions and services that work for their clients.

Xcede IT Director & Bury fan, Dave Coulson said “We have been helping Bury FC for a while now, and so formalising this partnership was the perfect next step.

“Implementing Microsoft 365 for email was key to allowing Bury FC to be heard again as a club and the setup and configuration of high-speed internet and secure wi-fi connectivity has been crucial in moving the stadium forward.

After 1547 days without competitive football, Bury FC finally returned to league action on Saturday. And what an occasion it was – dispatching a competitive Glossop North End side 5–1 to take a very early position at the top of the NWCFL Premier Division.

We cannot thank the fans enough for cheering us on to victory in the historic occasion at Gigg Lane, with the attendance of 5,451 – a record for this division!

The first away game arrives just three days later at Colne, who suffered a 3–0 defeat at West Didsbury & Chorlton on the opening day. Andy Welsh will not be taking anything for granted and will want a repeat performance against Paul Weller’s side. He is expected to name an unchanged side with no injuries picked up on Saturday.
  In Opposition – Colne
Colne FC were formed in January 1996, and moved into the vacant Holt House Stadium, once used by Colne Dynamoes.

The Red Army struggled until the 2003/04 season, when they finished top of the NWCFL Division 2 – 10 points clear of second place and scoring 102 goals. They also made it to the semi–finals of the FA Vase, defeating AFC Wimbledon along the way.

Season 2015–16 saw Colne win the NWCFL Premier Division title, securing 100 points and scoring over 100 goals. They also reached the final of the League Cup. The next few years saw success in the Northern Premier Leagues and various cup competitions, until they were relegated last season.
  Tickets
Pay on the gate is available but it will speed things up if fans get their tickets in advance from the link below:
Buy Tickets HERE   Prices: £7 for adults, £5 for concessions (over–65s, students & those registered disabled) and £1 for under–16s (all these are subject to small service charges if purchased online).

We are pleased to inform that an application to enter an U23s team has been accepted for this coming season, with an update on the process below.
As part of the club’s plans to rebuild all of its footballing infrastructure including pathways through from grassroots football to senior men’s and women’s football, we are progressing a men’s U23 team for this coming season.
The establishment of an U23 team is pivotal to our growth as a club over the next few seasons, and we have significant ambitions to progress our senior men’s and women’s teams up the National League System and Women’s pyramid respectively.
We have had an application accepted for the Lancashire Football League where several other Northern Premier League and North West Counties Football League clubs have U23 teams.
Fixtures are yet to be released but we are aware the season will run from 2nd September 2023 to 4th May 2024. Home games will typically be played weekday evenings on a 3G pitch at local venues, depending on availability.
The team will be a mixture of reserves, development players and possibly first team players returning from injury. The team will be fully under the responsibility of the football board and we are currently progressing the process for appointment of a manager for the U23 team.
There will be more developments to announce in the coming weeks and we are now opening the process towards appointing a manager of this team for next season. If you are interested, we would welcome CVs to be sent to chair@buryfc.co.uk before Monday 7th August, 5pm.

Bury Football Club is run by volunteers and owned by its supporters. Even if you aren’t one of the many volunteers who are assisting with our matchday operations this afternoon, you can play a part in its success.
Here are just a few things that you can do which make more of a difference than you might realise.
  1. Don’t turn up if you don’t have a ticket. Online ticket sales will end at Midday (12noon). The club will then announce if pay on the day is guaranteed, if you’re planning to attend this afternoon we encourage you to purchase a ticket to avoid disappointment. Click here to purchase one.
  2. Park considerately. The car park in front of the stadium is not available for supporter use, other than for people with blue disability badges. Volunteers will be helping manage the car park. Off-street parking is available but be mindful or the streets closest to Gigg Lane which have parking restrictions on a matchday, and be considerate to residents when you park in residential areas.
  3. Go to the right turnstile. Please head to the turnstile allocated on your ticket. Season Ticket holders will be in the South Stand. Please look out for signs and volunteers who are there to help to ensure you go to the right place and help anyone struggling.
  4. Have your ticket ready showing the QR code. You can present your QR code on your mobile phone or print it off at home, both will work as long as it is clear. You can only use it once on the day so if you share it with someone else who goes in first it won’t allow you in.
  5. Behave responsibly. This is a high-profile game with a significant security & media presence. Help us succeed by following the rules around alcohol consumption, be patient with volunteers and stewards and don’t engage in anti-social behaviour described below.
  6. Don’t litter. Every piece of litter needs to be cleaned up afterwards. If you leave litter behind that means extra work for a volunteer. Please use the bins provided or even better take your litter home with you so others don’t have to.
  7. Help if you can. You will see people staying behind after each game to work on the stadium. Join in if you can. Even five minutes spent cleaning the area around where you sit makes a difference.
There are still tickets for Sunday’s game against Preston North End, get yours HERE!
Anti-Social Behaviour is A Criminal Offence
Supporters should be aware that anti-social behaviour affecting the game itself will be a criminal offence. This includes:
Entering the field of play Possession of Pyrotechnics (Flares / Fireworks) in the ground The throwing of projectiles Racist, Homophobic or any other indecent chanting Please join us in creating a safe environment for supporters at Gigg Lane. Click here for more information
