We were given a lift even before the kick-off when Ramsbottom lost at home to FC St Helens on Friday night. And the big margin of victory more than made up for the result in the reverse fixture at Litherland in December.
Five goals before half time and seven separate scorers demonstrated the terrific attacking mindset in the team. And it was great to see Nicky Adams back in action as a sub following his hamstring injury.
The Shakers 4-1 victory at Barnoldswick on January 18 launched our winning run, so we’ll be looking to extend it before two away fixtures at FC St Helens and Pilkington.
We’re now on 88 points from 39 games – 10 in front of Rammy, who lost again on Tuesday. Lower Breck also remain a threat, in second place after a midweek home win against West Didsbury and Chorlton. They’ve won five of their last six matches and are on 79 points from 37 games.
If we win every match, we win the league. We’ve seen how a big, noisy crowd helps the team. So…be there, be part of it, be loud and be proud! and make some noise!!!! Up The Shakers!!!

In Opposition – Barnoldswick Town
Since we beat them, Barlick have made something of a recovery. They’ve lost only one of their last six games – won three and drawn two. That leaves them in 14th position, with 54 points from 39 games.
They’re an ambitious club with a good set-up. They will be looking to achieve 10th place at least by the end of the season, so we can expect them to come to Gigg looking for a good result.
