We are hosting a PSA Test Day in association with the Barry Kilby Prostate Cancer Appeal on Saturday 22nd November.

The Barry Kilby Prostate Cancer Appeal (BKPCA) was set up by Barry Kilby, ex-Chairman, of Burnley Football Club in 2014. Barry was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in 2011 after having no symptoms and he considers himself lucky to be alive. As a result of this, Barry is determined to help as many men as possible from being put in the same position as he was.

There is no National Screening for Prostate Cancer and most men are reluctant to visit their doctor for testing. Initially, Barry found a way of reaching out to Burnley FC fans on match days, encouraging as many men as possible to come and have a simple blood test at the football ground to check their PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) score.

So far, BKPCA have tested over 13000 men. Of those, 1200 men have had Red or Amber results and have been referred on to their GP for further testing. This is 1000 men that could potentially have Prostate Cancer and some, at such a young age, wouldn’t have been offered a test by their GP.

Pre-booking is required for this event, which will run between 10am & 2pm in Starkies. Click here to book and find out further information.

After our stunning fightback against Stafford Rangers, we travel to Runcorn Linnets for a replay of the game which had to be abandoned at half-time with the score at 1-1.

Our last-gasp league victory at the weekend was the third in succession and took us to third place in the table, with 14 points from seven matches.

It really was a great squad performance, with two of our three goals coming from Gabriel Johnson and Rustam Stepans just minutes after they’d come on as substitutes.

That performance suggests we’re now hitting the kind of form which will keep us in the top five.

If we win at Runcorn Linnets on Tuesday night, we’ll face NPL side Morpeth Town at home in the third qualifying round on Tuesday instead of Trafford in the league.
In Opposition – Runcorn Linnets

Runcorn are one of the strongest teams in the NPLW and, like us, have high hopes of promotion. They’re currently 11th in the table, but have played only six games.

Their only defeat this season was at Gigg Lane three weeks ago, when we dominated but managed to score only a single goal.

All the more reason to get along to the Apec Taxis Stadium and cheer on the lads.
Admission & Tickets
This fixture is ALL TICKET. No tickets will be available on the day. Any tickets already purchased for Tuesday’s tie will be valid for Saturday. Tickets from the original game are not valid.

Click here to purchase tickets, priced at £6 – adults, £4 – concessions (65+, 19-22 and disabled) and £1 – 18s and under.

Tickets will remain on sale until noon on matchday.

Admission to the stadium are much the same as the original tie, Shakers fans will enter via Turnstile 2.

Although supporters will again be accommodated on the opposite side of the ground to the main stand, a section of seating will be reserved for anybody from Bury unable to stand and requiring a seat.

Please email Runcorn for refunds on tickets bought for Tuesday or with any other queries.

Bury Football Club sends its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Roy Parnell, who passed away on 10th September, aged 81.

Roy began his career as a youth player with Everton, signed professional forms on his seventeenth birthday and made his Toffees debut before turning eighteen. In three years as a professional he appeared in three games for Everton, all being away games.

Everton manager Harry Catterick eventually allowed Roy to move on and in August 1964 he signed for his hometown club, Tranmere Rovers, who were managed by former Shakers boss Dave Russell at the time.

The full-back went on to play 116 games for Rovers over the next three seasons but in February 1967, Bury boss Les Shannon paid £5,500 to bring Roy to Gigg Lane. Shannon had also been Parnell’s youth coach at Everton and knew the England Youth player well.

Roy gave great service to the Shakers for three seasons and missed just two games as Bury gained promotion to tier two in 1967/8. In total he played 116 league and cup games for the Shakers before being given a free transfer in May 1970, when he moved on a semi-pro basis to New Brighton as player-manager and in 1973 was playing for Wirral team, Newton.

We can now confirm ticketing arrangements for our rearranged Isuzu FA Trophy tie against Runcorn Linnets next Tuesday evening (30th September).

The game will once again take place at the Apec Taxis Stadium, with kick-off at 7:45pm.

Tickets are now on sale. As a gesture of goodwill, admission prices have been significantly reduced for this match.

The cost of tickets will be: £6 for adults, £4 for concessions (65+, ages 19–22, and disabled supporters), and £1 for under-18s.

[Click here to purchase your tickets now]

A total of 450 tickets have been allocated for Shakers fans, and Runcorn will reserve a section of the home seated stand for away supporters. Any fans who wish to be seated should report to the main entrance, where a member of staff will escort them to the stand.

Please note that tickets purchased for the original tie will not be valid for this fixture, and new tickets must be bought. Supporters who held tickets for the initial game but cannot attend the replay will not be eligible for a refund, as the match had already reached half-time before being abandoned.

It’s never a dull week of footballing action when the Shakers are concerned.

After having to replay our previous FA Trophy tie due to player ineligibility, we now face a re-arranged fixture against Runcorn Linnets on Tuesday night. More details to follow on that one, but first, we face off against Stafford Rangers in the league.

The 45 minutes against Runcorn last weekend gave Oscar Threlkeld & Reece Kendall their Shakers debuts, Reece for the second time, also Gavin Massey’s first Shakers start and a welcome return for Aaron Chalmers from injury.

Stafford Rangers will head to Gigg Lane to face the Shakers for the first time, but they have conceded seven goals across their last two visits when they played FC United of Manchester twice across 2013 & 2014.
Words from the Gaffer
As we didn’t have a post-match interview following the Runcorn fixture, Dave McNabb has shared these short thoughts ahead of the weekend:

“I thought the first half performance was good on Saturday and felt we had the majority of the play once things settled down after conceding early.

“Never nice for a game to be abandoned but realistically the referee had no choice with the amount of standing water and more rain planned.

“We now have a mega busy schedule two two-week games for the foreseeable future with potentially more to follow. We are also battling a growing injury list with 9 players unavailable last Saturday, and Bobby picking up a knock during the game itself. We may now consider utilising some of the excellent Under-21’s players in the replayed FA Trophy game. This could be a brilliant opportunity for the young lads to showcase their abilities on a big stage as well as showing the club’s commitment to building a pathway to the first team.”
In Opposition – Stafford Rangers

Despite extensive research, no one has been able to prove when Stafford Rangers was formed, as early minute books were destroyed during the First World War.

Rangers’ formation year is recognised as 1876 because of articles in the local Advertiser newspaper, but an alternative theory on Rangers’ formation date, printed in the Sentinel newspaper during 1891, suggests that the club was founded by a Bible class in 1877.

The club has peaked at 6th in the National League on two occasions, or at that time named the Conference, in the late 1980s / early 1990s. It’s their second consecutive season at Step 4, having only spent four seasons out of the last 15 at this level, having been at the NPL Premier and Conference North levels in recent years.
On the Day & In the Ground
Our Matchday @ Gigg guide is available to read to find out everything you need to know going on in and around the ground.

Tickets are still on sale via our ticketing page on our website. Pay on the gate will also be available.

Starkies will be open at the normal time of 12.30pm for supporters to access from the Manchester Road End entrance before kick-off. This will be on a first-come, first-served basis up to capacity, which will be managed on the door. Starkies will remain open throughout the game (for those in the main stand only) as well as after the game.
Matchday Media Coverage
If you are unable to make it to the action at Gigg Lane, we’ll have all the live coverage across our media platforms.
Live Stream: Streaming details are still to be confirmed. Keep up-to-date with all our video content via the club’s YouTube Channel. Click to subscribe and never miss highlights and match reaction across the season.
Audio Commentary: Roch Valley Radio will be providing commentary for this game (UK only, due to competition broadcasting rules). Join the team from the press box at Gigg Lane. Click here ahead of kick-off to listen live. Audio commentary will be provided for every game of the season, so you will never miss a piece of the action.

Trafford FC welcome Bury FC to Shawe View on Tuesday, October 7th kick off 19:45 for the first ever league game between the two sides.

A larger than average crowd is expected. There will be no segregation in place and in order to speed entry to the ground, arrangements have been put in place for the match to be ticketed.

Trafford season ticket holders can gain entry by producing their season tickets at the Players’ and Officials’ gate.

Tickets purchases can be made online via Bury’s ticketing platform from 9am (Thursday 25th September) or from Trafford’s Shawe View ground next week.

Normal entry prices will apply of £10 Adult, £6 Concession and £2 U16s.

In person purchase will be available from Shawe View at the following times:

Monday, September 29th: 5pm – 8pm
Wednesday October 1st: 5pm – 8pm
Thursday, October 2nd: 5pm – 8pm
Friday, October 3rd: 5pm – 8pm
Saturday, October 4th: from 1pm at Trafford’s home game against Sporting Khalsa

A further announcement will be made should any tickets remain after Saturday October 4th.

Transport and Travel arrangements

There is limited parking at Shawe View and supporters are encouraged where possible to travel by public transport or share vehicles with fellow supporters.

Public Transport

Train: Shawe View is 300 meters from Chassen Road train station with trains direct from Manchester.

Buses: 248, 253 and 255 all stop within a short walking distance from the ground. 245, 247 and 256 all stop at Trafford General Hospital, which is a short 8-minute walk from the ground.

Greater Manchester Bee Network Journey Planner is available HERE

Travelling by car
Supporters who have no option but to travel by car are advised that the car park on Pennybridge Lane is likely to be full by 19:00.

Supporters should attempt to park away from the ground and walk a short distance to the match. This will ease congestion around the ground and make it easier for supporters to get away after the game. There is parking on Bowfell Road and Moorside Road both of which are a short walk from the ground.

We would ask all visitors to respect our local neighbours and not to park across driveways or restrict access to residential properties.

Roadworks

There are currently roadworks taking place outside the Bird I’ th’ Hand pub on Flixton Road. These roadworks are traffic light-controlled and are causing delays to traffic. Supporters are asked to avoid Flixton Road and park away from the ground.

We are delighted to announce we have been named finalists in three categories at this years Football Content Awards.

The following is from the FCA Website regarding each category.

Best Football Club – Non League

Bury FC’s revival is one of football’s most inspiring stories. Fan-owned and volunteer-run after expulsion from the EFL in 2019, the club has returned to Gigg Lane, regularly drawing 3,000+ fans and capping 2024/25 with an unbeaten home season, 109 points and promotion. Their Five to Go documentary captured this triumph, while volunteer-driven media output delivers graphics, interviews and behind-the-scenes coverage that rival pro setups. With women’s teams, disability football and 150 volunteers, Bury’s story is one of resilience, unity and community pride.

Best Documentary – Five To Go

Five To Go chronicles Bury FC’s title-winning run as a fan-owned club reborn at historic Gigg Lane. Made with no budget and powered by volunteers, the film captures the final five matches through gripping interviews, behind-the-scenes access and heartfelt moments with fans, players and staff. It celebrates an unbeaten home season, 109 points and promotion—while showcasing EFL-level energy in non-league. A moving testament to community spirit, resilience and belief, it proves a club is far more than a business.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Award

Reborn from expulsion to record crowds, Bury FC’s fan-owned resurgence is rooted in inclusion and community. The club now fields men’s, women’s, youth, walking football, and disability teams; engages volunteers at scale; and communicates brilliantly via social media, matchdays, and documentaries. With attendances near 3,000 and competitive success, Bury marries heritage with a welcoming culture that invites locals and the diaspora to reconnect. A model of resilience, transparency, and access, it proves football can unite a town anew.

Gareth Castick, Bury FC Chair said:

With over 29,000 nominations and more than 2,000 entries across 32 categories, the FCA’s panel of over 30 judges has meticulously reviewed each submission to select the very best in football content.

A 50/50 split between judges and fan votes will once again determine the winners.

Voting is open now and you can cast your votes via the Football Content Awards website by clicking here and on Instagram. Voting will close on Sunday, October 12th at 23:59 (UK time), so don’t miss your chance to have your say!

The results will be announced at the Football Content Awards ceremony on Thursday, November 20th at the iconic Elland Road, home of Leeds United.
