Mo is a Shaker!
Bury FC are delighted to announce the permanent signing of Momodou Touray from Southport FC. The exciting forward makes the move to Gigg Lane after impressing with his pace, power and eye for goal, adding further quality and competition to the Shakers’ attacking options. Known for his direct running and work rate, Touray arrives eager to make an impact and help drive the club forward. Momodou joins the squad with valuable experience at this level and a hunger to succeed in blue and white, becoming the latest addition as the club continues to build momentum both on and off the pitch. First Team Manager Tim Lees said: “I’m really happy to get Mo over the line. With us losing Kieran Glynn and Leo being a short-term loan, we needed a number 10 with goals, physicality and creation. Mo brings all of these attributes; he is an excellent player for this level and can also play as a striker”. Momodou started his career with Newport County Academy, where he spent a short spell on loan with Merthyr Town before signing his first professional contract with Newport in 2018. Representing Wales at U19 and U21 levels, Momodou made his League Two debut in May 2018 before spells at Barry Town and Torquay United. Momodou joined Salford City in 2020, making his debut in the EFL Trophy against Manchester United U21s, before a loan move to Hereford. After joining Marine in 2022, Touray went on to become Warrington Rylands top goalscorer in the 2023-24 season, with 18 goals, helping the club to a 4th placed finish in the Northern Premier League. On signing for the Shakers, Momodou said: “I’m delighted to be joining Bury FC. It’s a privilege to represent a club of this stature. The expectation is high, and one that aligns with my own personal ambition. I understand the demands that come with representing this club, and I’m ready to embrace them. I’m here to excite the fans and give everything I have to help the team push forward and achieve the club’s goal of promotion”. Everyone at Bury FC would like to welcome Momodou to the club and wish him every success in his time at Gigg Lane. Welcome to Bury, Momodou! View the full article

Pedro Joins Southport On Loan
Bury FC can confirm that DJ Pedro has joined Southport FC on loan until the end of the season, subject to FA approval. Since joining the Shakers from Buxton during our North-West Counties Premier Division winning campaign, DJ has always been forthcoming with his desire to play higher and try to get back into full time football. This loan move allows DJ the opportunity to test himself in the National League North, and one step closer to full time. On his departure, DJ shared the following message to the Bury fanbase: “Nothing but love for Bury FC. The fans, the staff, the lads – you made this a special place for me and I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity. Now it’s time for a new challenge on loan higher up, but Bury will always have my respect. Thank you for everything. UTS” We would like to thank DJ for his efforts while at Gigg Lane and wish him the very best of luck during his time with Southport. We look forward to monitoring his progress over the coming months. Our game on Saturday against Shifnal Town was postponed due to a frozen pitch, resulting from low temperatures across the country in the lead-up to the game. On New Year’s Day, the Shakers picked up a 6-2 win against Stalybridge Celtic. A wonder strike of a free-kick from Kai Evans made up one goal of his hat-trick. Debutant Lewis Rawsthorn got off the mark, as well as Owen Robinson & Leo Graham, also on the scoresheet. In Opposition – Avro Avro are currently on an 8-game winning streak, most recently picking up a 2-0 win on New Year’s Day against Mossley. COLIN McDONALD 1930 – 2026
Everyone at Bury Football Club is sad to hear the news that Colin McDonald has passed away. Colin never played for the Shakers but he did have many different backroom roles at the club throughout the 1960s. Goalkeeper Colin was a local man of Scottish parents, born in Summerseat on 15 October 1930. After playing for local junior sides Hawkshaw St. Mary’s and Joshua Hoyles, Burnley FC just pipped Bury for his signature and he joined the Clarets as an amateur in 1948, playing reserve team football. He also completed his apprenticeship as a plumber and, when called up for National Service also played for Headington United (now Oxford United) for a short time. By 1954, he had become Burnley’s first choice goalkeeper and earned the first of eight England international caps in May 1958. Colin played 186 games for the Clarets but would have played many more if he had not suffered a career ending broken leg playing for the Football League against the League of Ireland in March 1959. After two unsuccessful years of trying to regain fitness, he retired and his association with Bury FC began after a very brief spell as coach of Wycombe Wanderers. Colin held many roles at Gigg Lane but the first was as a youth team coach in September 1961. Two years later he was appointed as chief scout and was responsible for bringing Colin Bell to Bury and set up an impressive scouting network which saw many players progress and be sold on for big fees. In October 1964 he stepped up to assistant manager but left the following January to return to playing, with non-league Altrincham. That didn’t last very long as in May 1965 he returned to the club as Chief Scout once more, taking up the same role at Bolton two years later. After nine months at Burnden Park he returned to Bury, for a third time, as administration manager and in May 1970 was appointed as the club’s general manager. When his contract ended in September 1972, he was not offered a new role and Colin then returned to youth football with Oldham Athletic. Our condolences are sent to Colin’s family and friends. Welcome to Gigg: Lewis Rawsthorn
We are delighted to confirm the signing of Lewis Rawsthorn from Radcliffe on a permanent deal, further strengthening our attacking options. Lewis joined Radcliffe in September 2023 from Atherton LR following an outstanding season in front of goal, scoring over 30 times in the North West Counties League. During his time at Radcliffe, Lewis made a handful of senior appearances, scoring once, and continued his development through loan spells with FC United of Manchester, Stalybridge Celtic and most recently Hyde United. While at Hyde, the young striker found the net seven times in 24 appearances. Upon joining the club, Lewis said: “It’s an immensely proud moment for me to sign for Bury FC. I have family members who support the club and being a local lad i know what the club means to the community. I’m really exited and can’t wait to get out there and hopefully we can achieve the goals we have set out for the remainder of the season. Up the Shakers.” Manager, Tim Lees added: “Really pleased to get Lewis over the line. He has scored goals at various levels now, has an excellent work rate and will fit perfectly into how we play. He will be a great addition for us.” We are pleased to welcome Lewis to Gigg Lane and look forward to working with him as he continues his progression in a Bury shirt. View the full article

Match Info: Stalybridge Celtic (A), Thu 1st Jan, 3pm KO
We start 2026 on the road as we take on Stalybridge Celtic at Bower Fold. This will be our fourth meeting with them this season, following encounters in the FA Cup (twice) and the league in quick succession back in August. Tim Lees brings his side into this fixture on the back of three consecutive wins, becoming the first Shakers manager since Lee Clark to boast a 100% record after three games in a full season. Boxing Day saw a 2–0 victory over Clitheroe, courtesy of goals from Rustam Stepans and Wigan loanee Leo Graham, whose loan deal has been extended into the first month of the new calendar year. An attendance of 5,337 was the eighth-highest of all time in the Northern Premier League, and just the third since the turn of the millennium to surpass the 5,000 mark. In Opposition – Stalybridge Celtic Jon Macken’s Stalybridge have faced back-to-back draws against Mossley and Vauxhall Motors, and sit two league places and points behind the Shakers. Ex-Bury striker Ruben Jerome sits top of the scoring charts for Celtic, with 10 goals this season. Admission & Tickets This game is an all-ticket fixture. Bury supporters will have access to the Smurift Westrock terrace end of the ground and will also have access to seating within a section of the Main Stand. Purchase tickets online.
