We’re back to league action under the lights at Gigg Lane after Saturday’s encouraging Isuzu FA Trophy 3-1 victory over Wythenshawe Town. This was a good result against another team from the same league as ourselves – albeit below us in a table which at the moment is rather meaningless. We can expect the Linnets to provide a much tougher test. They are in fifth place with eight points from four games and still in the FA Cup. We currently lie in 18th place, having won one game, drawn two and lost one. Saturday’s result will hopefully get the pendulim swinging in the right direction and we can kick on and start to climb the table! But, as always, we can’t do it without your help! So get down to Gigg and get behind the lads. Up the Shakers!! In Opposition – Runcorn Linnets The Yellows have done well in the league in recent seasons, reaching the play-offs in three out of the last four and last term winning the Cheshire Senior Cup. It’s only 19 years since the club took its present form – similar to ours – when supporters of a former amateur club got together to launch a semi-professional team. Tickets are still on sale via our ticketing page on our website. Pay on the gate will also be available. Starkies will be open at the normal time of 6pm for supporters to access from the Manchester Road End entrance before kick-off. This will be on a first-come, first-served basis up to capacity, which will be managed on the door. Starkies will remain open throughout the game (for those in the main stand only) as well as after the game.
