  2. Anthony Johnson - Alfreton Town (A) | Post-Match Interview | Bury FC
  3. Today

  4. DJ Pedro was once again the hero coming off the bench to score a brilliant lobbed goal in the 88th minute away at Alfreton Town, the hard fought 3-2 win the perfect antidote to Bury’s recent away day troubles. After the tough loss away to Stockton Town Bury made three changes to the team. DJ Pedro had a welcome return to the bench after six weeks out injured. Looking to make amends from midweek the Shakers came out of the blocks quickly. A James Neild cross was glanced wide by Owen Robinson in an early chance. It was Rustam Stepans who gave the visitors the lead. Taking a free kick from a tight angle near the corner flag. His ball into the box stayed low, eluded the defence and landed into the far corner of the goal. Bury quickly doubled their lead. From a counterattack a Tom Carr shot was deflected out for a corner. From the resulting set piece Louis Isherwood was hauled down at far post and the referee pointed to the spot. Owen Robinson who had announced a new contract extension pre match celebrated the event by scoring the penalty. Bury looked in control during the first half Stepans, Robinson and Neild in particular looked sharp on the Bury right wing. When the home side did create a chance, Kasper Williams flicking a header goalwards, Mitch Allen was on hand to produce a super save. The Shakers wouldn’t get into the halftime break with a clean sheet however. A simple ball over the top to Alfreton centre forward Siya Ligendza allowed him to finish well grabbing a goal back for the hosts. It seemed to shake Bury’s confidence and after the break they looked nervous and off the pace. They struggled to keep possession and every long ball forward by Alfreton threatened an equaliser. The visitors did have chances, a Robinson shot was deflected wide and Stepans arriving at the last second to meet a Kai Evans cross put his diving effort onto the post. Those missed chances came back to haunt them. A minute after seeing their chance hit the post Bury were brought back to 2-2. Ligendza pulled the ball from the byline Daniel Odunaiya who slammed in the equaliser. Pegged back and undoubtedly on the ropes the last minutes of the match passed slowly. It seemed Anthony Johnson’s 800th match in management would at best end in an uneasy draw. Cometh the hour, cometh the man DJ Pedro on as a substitute was allowed the time and space to loft a ball over the head of Reds keeper Alfie Roberts with a volley and into the goal for the Bury winner. Pedro ran the full length of the pitch through teammates’ and coaches’ celebrations into the arms of the delirious Shakers away support. View lineups and more in our match centre. 6. We are delighted to confirm that midfielder Owen Robinson has signed a new contract with Bury Football Club. The 23-year-old joined The Shakers in May 2025 from Marine has since established himself as an important member of the squad at Gigg Lane. During his first season with The Shakers, following a pre-season injury, Robinson made 18 league appearances, scoring three goals and providing four assists as Bury secured the Northern Premier League West title. The Liverpool-born midfielder has carried that form into the 2026/27 season, making 12 appearances across all competitions so far, scoring three goals and registering two assists. He has already found the net against Ilkeston Town, Wythenshawe and Emley AFC, while also providing assists in the victories over Wythenshawe and Emley. In total, Robinson has made 30 competitive appearances for The Shakers across the two seasons, scoring six goals and registering six assists. Manager Anthony Johnson expressed his delight at securing Robinson’s future at Gigg Lane. “I’m absolutely delighted that Owen has committed his future to the club and put his trust in us for the next couple of years. “He’s been outstanding so far this season, contributing with goals and assists, but what really sets him apart is his relentless work rate, attitude and desire to improve. He sets the standards we expect from everyone at this football club. “For us, it’s hugely important that we retain our best young players and build something for the long term. Securing Owen’s future is another important step in that process and gives us the stability to keep moving forward. He’s got a big future ahead of him, and we’re delighted that he sees that future with us.” Robinson added: “It’s an amazing feeling to extend my deal at the club. “I’ve loved it every second of being here and I’m looking forward to where the club’s journey is heading on. “I’m looking forward to where the journey the club’s on and I’d love to be a part of it and I can’t wait to keep the club moving forward and I can’t wait to get going again.” Prior to joining Bury, Robinson began his career at AFC Fylde before moving to Sunderland. He has also enjoyed loan spells at Warrington Rylands, Lancaster City and Bootle. We look forward to seeing Owen continue his development in a Bury shirt! View the full article

  12. We can confirm that our Emirates FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round tie against Harrogate Town on Saturday 17th October 2026 has been selected for television coverage on BBC Red Button and BBC iPlayer. As a result of the fixture being selected for broadcast, kick-off at Gigg Lane will now take place at 12:30pm. The occasion promises to be another memorable FA Cup day at Salford Van Hire Stadium, with the Shakers looking to book their place in the First Round Proper. Supporters attending the game should, however, be aware of a number of important changes to our usual matchday arrangements as a result of the BBC television broadcast and the regulations which apply to this fixture. Matchday Timings With the earlier kick-off time, our matchday opening times will also change. Hospitality areas will open from 10am, with turnstiles opening at 11am ahead of the 12:30pm kick-off. We strongly encourage all supporters to arrive at Gigg Lane in good time. The earlier kick-off, combined with the anticipated attendance and changes to areas of the stadium, may result in a busier than usual build-up to the game. Supporters are encouraged to book in advance on Fanbase to make entry to the ground as smooth as possible. Remember, there are no hidden fees with Fanbase! South Stand Changes The South Stand will be significantly affected by the requirements of the BBC’s broadcast operation, with a television scaffold being installed within the stand to accommodate the coverage of the fixture. As a result, Blocks E and F will be fully closed for this game. There will also be partial closures in the surrounding blocks due to restricted views created by the television scaffold: Block D: Rows L onwards closed Block G: Rows E onwards closed Block H: Rows L onwards closed The Wheelchair Enclosure will remain unaffected by the broadcast arrangements and will operate as normal. We appreciate that these changes will affect supporters who would usually watch the game from these areas and thank fans for their patience and understanding as we accommodate the requirements of the live television coverage. Alcohol Regulations Supporters should also be aware of a change to the usual arrangements regarding the consumption of alcohol inside Gigg Lane. Due to Harrogate Town’s participation at Step 1 of the National League System, Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc.) Act 1985 regulations apply to this fixture, meaning that alcohol cannot be consumed within sight of the pitch, including in the stands. Alcohol will still be available from designated kiosks and hospitality areas that are not in pitch view, but supporters purchasing alcoholic drinks will be required to consume them in the permitted areas and will not be able to take alcohol to their seats or into the stands. The kiosks will close for alcohol sales at 12pm. Kiosks will remain open for food and non-alcoholic drinks only, including tea, coffee and soft drinks. Shakers Bar in the South Stand will be fully closed for this fixture. We expect to operate a can bar on the approach between the South Stand turnstiles. Further details will be confirmed ahead of the fixture. This differs from our usual matchday arrangements at Gigg Lane, and we ask supporters to cooperate with stewards and stadium staff throughout the afternoon. Segregation Full segregation is in place for the fixture, with Harrogate Town fans utilising the Cemetery End. Unreserved Seating Unreserved seating is in place for this fixture, as is the usual case for Cup matches at Gigg Lane. Getting into the ground early will help you secure your preferred seat. This will be even more important for this tie with the reduced capacity in the South Stand of 2,000. A Big FA Cup Day at Gigg Lane The Fourth Qualifying Round represents the final hurdle before the First Round Proper, and the visit of Harrogate Town provides the Shakers with another exciting FA Cup occasion at Gigg Lane. Selection for BBC coverage also provides a fantastic opportunity to showcase Bury FC, Gigg Lane and our supporters to a national audience, while giving those unable to attend the opportunity to follow the action via BBC Red Button and BBC iPlayer. For those joining us at Gigg Lane, please make a note of the revised 12:30pm kick-off and altered stadium arrangements, and arrive early to help ensure a smooth entry into the ground. We appreciate that a change to the kick-off time can create challenges for supporters, particularly those who have already made travel arrangements or have other commitments around the original fixture time, and we thank everyone for their understanding. Your support can make a huge difference. The backing the players receive from the stands at Gigg Lane is incredibly important to them, and that is felt even more on the big occasions. With a place in the First Round Proper at stake, we hope as many Shakers as possible can join us, get behind the team and help create another special FA Cup atmosphere at Gigg Lane. Bury FC v Harrogate Town Emirates FA Cup – Fourth Qualifying Round Kick-off: 12:30pm Live on BBC Red Button and BBC iPlayer We look forward to welcoming you to Gigg Lane for another huge FA Cup afternoon.
