Bury Football Club, a semi-professional football club presently operating at Step 5 of non-league football, is looking for a Head of Commercial to join with and lead a team of volunteers in delivering our partnership and sponsorship programmes and generate wider revenue streams.
The role will report to the board of the Football Supporters’ Society of Bury, the vehicle through which the Club is owned by its members, and will involve working closely with the Club’s Head of Operations to generate and implement the partnership, sponsorship and revenue opportunities that you will drive across the business.
Key Responsibilities
You will bring experience in business development and sponsorship sales and have an understanding of how a typical matchday will drive revenue for a football club at our level. We require someone with highly developed organisational skills, the ability to take the initiative and work collaboratively with staff and volunteers. In particular you will:
- Develop and maintain the Club’s brand identity that will support all sales efforts and be reflected in all marketing material
- Prepare and implement a sales marketing plan to support the delivery of the Club’s partnership programme
- Support the FSSB board and the committees that report to the FSSB board in the development of pricing for all hospitality packages and products
- Ensure that the Club maintains constant communication with partners and sponsors
- Co-ordinate all commercial matchday activity (including live streaming of fixtures when permitted) through working closely with the Club’s Head of Operations, staff and volunteers to ensure a high standard of delivery
- Lead and work closely with volunteers on the commercial committee
- Work closely with the Club’s Head of Operations to ensure that all packages can be delivered
- Sell matchday hospitality packages and any non-matchday events
- Build relationships with existing customers and increase revenue where possible
- Focus on acquisition, conversion and customer spend within a multi-channel sales environment.
- Develop revenue streams through the implementation of FanZone
- Optimise revenues with excellent account management capabilities
- Seek high levels of customer retention including re-introduction of lapsed customers
- Understand the various products and services available with the ability to confidently present and improve conversion
- Develop and implement a strategy for increasing matchday attendance
- Develop a programme of non-matchday income streams through events including maximising secondary spend from pitch hire
- Creating and implementing the sale of stadium hire packages to professional clubs for training
- Collaborate with the Club’s Head of Operations, staff and volunteers to maximise the matchday experience
