    Club Statement: Andy Welsh

We can confirm that Bury Football Club and manager Andy Welsh have agreed to part company.

We would like to thank Andy for his hard work and commitment to the club, the players, and it’s volunteers over the past three and a half years.

Andy provided outstanding leadership throughout some difficult and turbulent times, not least during a global pandemic when just playing football was a challenge. In addition to winning a league title Andy quietly helped and supported many volunteers off the pitch when they needed it.

He more than earned the right to lead the team at Gigg Lane at the start of the season. We can’t speak highly enough about him as a person, and we know many will be extremely sad to see him go.

Unfortunately, we have decided now is the right time for a change and we wish Andy all the best for the future.

The under-23s management team of Leon Mike and Stephen Sheil will take charge on an interim basis, with the recruitment process to appoint a new manager to begin with immediate effect.

    Society Update On Elections

Update from the Football Supporters' Society of Bury
Following the conclusion of the investigation and further discussions with the independent election scrutineers Mi-Voice, the Interim Board are pleased to announce that the nomination period will be reopening imminently. We’d like to provide the following updated election timeline to members as promised in our previous statement in an attempt to keep members informed as best we can with progress to having a fully elected Board in place.

Nominations will reopen from Friday 15th September 2023 for a period of 10 days. This is to allow sufficient time for anyone to submit, amend or withdraw nominations should they wish. Anyone who previously submitted a nomination will be contacted directly by Mi-Voice after the 15th September 2023.

Once the nomination period has closed on Monday 25th September 2023, an independent Election Committee will collate the nominations and will confirm that all nominees are valid in accordance with the Election Policy and Conflict of Interests Policy. We expect this will take no more than 5 working days. We anticipate voting will then open on 29th September 2023 for a period of two weeks, with the results announced at an online Special General Meeting at 7pm on the 13th October 2023. All votes will have been cast either electronically or by postal ballot ahead of the meeting where the results will be announced. The formal calling notice can be viewed here.

Significant time and effort has been spent cleansing membership data with the aim of ensuring that only paying adult (Aged 16 or over) members will be able to vote in the upcoming election, and that each member has one vote, even where they were a member of both societies. It is not possible to achieve absolute perfection in this matter. No society such as ours can achieve that. We believe we will have the most accurate possible electoral database we can achieve and any further delays to the establishment of a newly elected board would have a more negative impact on the Society than additional work on the database and inevitable further delays which we believe will be immaterial to the result.

Invalid voting accounts will always be deleted from the database where they are discovered, and this applies throughout any voting period. Any accounts which have been flagged as potentially invalid will be contacted prior to voting opening to provide proof they are a legitimate account. Any account unable to provide sufficient proof will be unable to vote in the election. Anyone who has knowingly created a membership using false information can notify us by 25th September by emailing d.triggs@fssb.co.uk for any invalid or false Shakers Community memberships and k.lee@fssb.co.uk for any invalid or false Bury Football Club Supporters Society memberships. These invalid memberships will be deleted with no further action taken ahead of voting commencing. Further action will be taken against individuals who have, in the opinion of the Board, knowingly created false or invalid memberships.

Any other questions or queries related to the election should be sent to support@mi-voice.com.

We will aim to provide a further update to members once the nomination period has closed.

Match Info: Lower Breck (A), Sat 16th Sep, 3pm KO

The Anfield area of Liverpool is nestled in football history and that’s where we head on Saturday.

Andy Welsh’s side face Lower Breck, who played just under a mile away from the home of Liverpool. It was a 1-1 draw last time out against Longridge, the goal coming from Benito Lowe who scored started his first game since his return from injury.

The players have had a well-earned rest with no game in midweek, so two sessions in training this week to prepare for this fixture.

Former Clitheroe player Ben McKenna joined the club last week and you can hear from him speaking to Adam Clark below.
          In Opposition – Lower Breck
    History
Lower Breck Football Club was founded in the summer of 2010 in the Tuebrook area of Liverpool. The aim on formation was to establish a youthful group of quality, committed players capable of challenging for honours in all future competitions in the years to come.

In the club’s first season they took the South Liverpool 2010/11 Youth Division Title which was a great achievement at the first time of asking. For the 2011/12 season, the club took on the challenge and step up in quality and moved to the highly respected Carlsberg West Cheshire Association Football League.

In the season that followed the club created history winning the West Cheshire League Title, The West Cheshire Youth Plate and The LCFA County Cup. History was made as no other club from the West Cheshire League had ever got their hands on the treble. The club was also been nominated for Merseyside Team of the Year 2011/12.

Again not wanting to stand still the club for the 2012/13 season joined forces with the highly respected and fast-growing Famous Grapes Football Club. The lads in their first season as an open-age side became a member of the Liverpool County Premier League’s 2nd Division. In keeping with tradition the lads won the 2nd Division title another remarkable achievement as this was their first year in adult football.

Not settling for just a domestic trophy the club embarked on a European Tour when they travelled over to Cologne Germany to take part in the 2013 Rheintal Trophy and in doing so brought home the winner’s trophy capping another trophy-led season for the lads.

For the 2013/14 season the club played their football in the Liverpool County Premier League’s 1st Division as Lower Breck FC. With hard work and dedication the club was aiming to be playing Premier League football the following season and that aim was realized when the lads clung on to the last remaining promotion spot.

With the step up to the Premier Division secured the club looked to secure their position amongst the very best the city had to offer and build a squad capable of challenging for a league title in the forthcoming years.

For the start of the 2015/16 season Lower Breck had grown from the one team the Moore family founded back in 2010 to the club now running five playing sides.

A Reserve, Sunday and two youth sides have all been added to the clubs roster of teams playing under the Breck Banner.

With the addition of these sides Lower Breck set their focus on growing into a strong established club and with growth on/off the field and the club pushed full steam ahead. In the 2016/17 season the Breck secured a domestic cup double winning the highly respected I-Zingari & George Mahon Cups.

In the 2017/18 season the club raised the bar even further and achieved greatness in Liverpool by winning all four competitions they played in and also going unbeaten throughout the whole campaign with a run stretching back to October 2016.

LCPL, LCFA, George Mahon & I-Zinagri Cup Champions a truly remarkable feat that some massive clubs in Liverpool never managed to achieve.

Lower Breck FC have made the swift transition from Youth side to North West Counties affiliated member Club in under 10 years.
