Latest News and Articles

It all looked very straightforward. After winning three out of four successive home games, we had a week to prepare for this away cup-tie.

Then came the shock of having just 24 hours notice to replay the previous tie against Wythenshawe Town on Tuesday evening.

Despite being unable to field our strongest team, we won again.

We now focus on the weekend, the tie at Runcorn goes ahead, and we go into it with confidence on the back of a series of excellent performances.

We beat the Linnets in our recent NPLW game at home. The score was only 1-0, but there really was only one team in it.

The return fixture in the cup will be tough, because they have a point to prove. But so do we. More than one. Up the Shakers!!!
In Opposition – Runcorn Linnets

As we were winning – again! – at Wythenshawe, the Linnets were cruising to a 3-0 league victory at home to Kidsgrove Athletic.

They have followed up three excellent seasons in the league with a great start this time. They’re currently fourth in the table, with three wins and two draws from six matches – one place ahead of us on goal difference.

It will be interesting to compare Saturday’s attendance with the Linnets record gate for this competition: 1,078 against FC United of Manchester in October 2021 in the third qualifying round. The Rebel Reds won 2-0.
Admission & Tickets
This fixture is ALL TICKET. No tickets will be available on the day. 420 tickets have been allocated to the Shakers for this game so far.

Fans will be segregated with Runcorn supporters using Turnstile One and Bury fans Turnstile Two.

The away turnstile will be open from 1.30pm.

Bury Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of Oscar Threlkeld.

The 31-year-old arrives at Gigg Lane with a wealth of experience across the Football League and National League, having represented clubs including Bolton Wanderers, Plymouth Argyle, Salford City, Bradford City, and most recently Torquay United, where he captained the side.

Threlkeld, who can operate at right-back, centre-back, or in midfield, has amassed over 250 senior appearances since making his debut for Bolton in 2013.

A Radcliffe-born player, he brings not only leadership and experience but also a strong local connection as he returns to his hometown roots.

The Media team caught up with Dave McNabb who had the following to say about his new signing.
He’s made two appearances against the Shakers during his time in the EFL, once for Bolton and once for Plymouth – both times he was on the winning side.

The professionalism and leadership qualities he has are expected to make an impact as our debut season in the Northern Premier League continues.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Oscar as he begins the next chapter of his career at Gigg Lane.

New signings are brought to you in association with S&S Northern.

We are delighted to announce the signing of Reece Kendall, marking his return to Gigg Lane for a second spell.
The 26-year-old joins us from Cleethorpes Town, having signed for them after leaving Bury in the summer.
Reece made nine appearances for us last season before unfortunately suffering an injury in the penultimate game of the campaign against Cheadle Town at FC United of Manchester. We’re celebrating a fantastic day at the Bury 10K, where supporters and volunteers came together to raise almost £1,200 for the club.

The annual race once again brought runners and the local community to the heart of the town, and this year Bury FC was proud to be represented both on the course and in the event village.

A team of dedicated volunteers took part in the 10K, representing the Bury badge with pride every step of the way, while others ran our club tent, engaging with the local community and spreading the word about the Shakers.

The combined effort raised an incredible total of almost £1,200, which will go directly towards supporting the ongoing work of the club both on and off the pitch, as well as to the race charity partner, The Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

We’d like to thank everyone who took part, donated, and supported us on the day, with a special thanks to the volunteers who made the event possible by running, cheering, and keeping the tent buzzing throughout the morning.

Casey Lynchey, Head of Operations, Community and Women’s Football at Bury Football Club, said: “We are so pleased with the success of this year’s Bury 10K and so proud of everyone who played their part in raising almost £1,200 for the club. Events like this show the power of our community, both in the race and in the event village.

“A huge thank you goes to our volunteers and supporters who gave their time and energy to represent Bury FC with such passion. Together we are building something really special for the town.”

This fundraising milestone highlights once again the strength of the Bury FC community and the impact it can have when we come together.

We would like to kindly remind all visitors and supporters attending events at Bury Football Club about the importance of responsible parking in the areas surrounding Gigg Lane, Horne Street, Devon Street and Brierley Street, particularly on matchdays.
Impact on Local Residents
With the increased number of attendees on matchdays, there have been ongoing concerns about inconsiderate parking practices. Unfortunately, some vehicles are being parked in ways that cause significant disruptions for local residents, including parking at junctions and corners and obstructing driveways. This kind of parking is not just inconsiderate; it poses a serious safety risk. It obstructs emergency vehicle access, creates dangerous road conditions, and disrupts the daily lives of the local community.
Your Responsibility as a Visitor
We kindly ask all supporters to respect the Highway Code and consider the needs of the local community when parking. By doing so, we can ensure a safer environment for all road users and a more harmonious relationship between fans and residents.
Let’s Make Matchdays Enjoyable for All
We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation. By parking responsibly, we can maintain a safe and welcoming atmosphere for everyone on matchdays.

We’re off! Two wins in a row and the vast improvement in performance under the Gigg Lane lights on Tuesday suggest we’re finally on the move.

The NPLW win against Runcorn Linnets was much more convincing than the 1-0 scoreline suggests. And we’ve gone from 18th to 8th in the table.

Also encouraging was the attendance – not far short of 3,000 on an initially damp Tuesday evening. And so was the noise from the South Stand. Come on the Shakers?? You bet!!

We were well on top for about 80 per cent of the game, and it was a pity we managed only one goal. We now go into our next clash with second-placed Shifnal full of confidence: our season is finally under way.

Confidence, yes, but not complacency. It will be tough, because Shifnal – like us, just promoted – have made an excellent start. And another win will keep us in touch with the pack leading the league.

So get down to Gigg Lane and get behind the lads again with lots of noise. Up, up, up the Shakers!!
In Opposition – Shifnal Town

The Shropshire side were promoted via the Midland League play-offs. They were runners-up to Lichfield City, then beat Brocton and Northwich 1874.
They reached second place in the NPLW by gathering 13 points from seven matches – four wins, one draw and two defeats.

Founded as a church team in 1964, they’ve played in various leagues in the Midlands and have been known as Shifnal Town since 1972.
On the Day & In the Ground
Our Matchday @ Gigg guide is available to read to find out everything you need to know going on in and around the ground.

Tickets are still on sale via our ticketing page on our website. Pay on the gate will also be available.

Starkies will be open at the normal time of 12.30pm for supporters to access from the Manchester Road End entrance before kick-off. This will be on a first-come, first-served basis up to capacity, which will be managed on the door. Starkies will remain open throughout the game (for those in the main stand only) as well as after the game.
Matchday Media Coverage
If you are unable to make it to the action at Gigg Lane, we’ll have all the live coverage across our media platforms.
Live Stream: For this game there will be no UK stream. Keep up-to-date with all our video content via the club’s YouTube Channel. Click to subscribe and never miss highlights and match reaction across the season.

Your link to access the game will be provided in your receipt following the transaction.

Live stream tickets will be available to purchase from Tuesday at midday, on our ticket webpage HERE.
