Player of The Month – October

Another month has headed by, and our unbeaten league run continues. We may have dropped out of the cup competitions, but it has been another sterling month for the Shakers and it is now time to pick the stand out player for month of October!

17 goals scored, 13 points in five league games and ended the month with back-to-back 2-0 wins away from home, with the following notable performances in the process:
  A clean sheet, a Player of the Match & two penalty saves for Mitch Allen Four goals & three Player of the Match Awards for Rustam Stepans Three goals for Bryan Ly Two goals and two clean sheets for Ben Hockenhull First goals for the club for midfield-duo Cam Fogerty & Bobby Carroll, with Bobby picking up his first Player of the Match against Chadderton     Performances spread across the squad will mean that picking your favourite will once again, be a tough task in the month of October. Legends Wall Update – October

We’d like to provide a further update on our Legends Wall plans.
 
We’re currently experiencing some technical issues with the imagery that we are planning to use on the legends wall, to get it up to the quality needed by the company printing these for us.
 
Our Heritage Committee along with other volunteers from the club’s Media Team are working hard to get this processed as quickly as possible.
 
As mentioned in the last update, we will open sales on each of the history panels once they have been designed. 
 
We’re also extending the sponsorship length, initially set to two years, this will now be for the rest of the 2024/25 season and the two following seasons – 2025/26 & 2026/27.

WOMEN’S MATCH PREVIEW: WEST DIDSBURY & CHORLTON AFC WOMENS (H) SUN 3RD NOV 2PM KICK-OFF

Our next women’s game sees the Shakers host West Didsbury & Chorlton at Gigg Lane.


West Didsbury & Chorlton currently place ninth in the Premier Division of the North West Womens Regional League, two positions below the Shakers. It is the first time the two teams have met this season, with the reverse fixture scheduled to be played at Step Places Stadium in March.


The visitors have currently won three games out of ten played, with two drawn and five losses.


Come down to Gigg Lane and support the girls. Entry via turnstile (West Stand) from 1pm.


Cost: £3 adults//£1 children


Parking: limited – spaces are first come first served.

Remembrance Service 2024

Each year, we remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country, sovereign, families and loved ones in order that we may live our lives in freedom and safety. It is important for us all to reflect on the lives lost, the families and friends affected and those who were injured whilst serving their country.
  As a mark of respect, ahead of our home game next Saturday against Pilkington, we will take a moment to remember all those brave men and women who have lost their lives in many conflicts and wars around the world and in service to our country at home. We owe them so much in countless ways.
  Especially poignant this year are memories of those who served in the D-Day landings of 1944 and the 25th anniversary of the end of the war in Bosnia and the Balkans where the British and NATO armed forces served with distinction in the Peace Keeping Force.
Not only do we remember the armed services, the Army, Navy and RAF, but also the emergency services, Police, Fire and Rescue and Ambulance Services and all those who work within the NHS and social care and who serve to keep us safe.


We also welcome special guests His Worship, the Mayor of Bury, Councillor Khalid Hussain, Lady Mayoress, Mrs Carol Bernstein and the Rector of Bury Parish Church, Reverend Julian Heaton.


We are proud to launch the opening of our Veterans Bar for this fixture where service veterans will be able to gather together on match days and drop in sessions supported by The Two Tubs Public House and the landlady Donna Haslam. This will deepen our connection with veterans in the area which is so important to us as a club in a town with strong military connections. Saturday will be free of charge for all veterans, entry will be via the main reception on production of ID.


We also remember those within the Bury FC family who have passed away. We particularly remember those who have passed away since our last memorial game. All those we have lost are missed by their fellow supporters, family and friends. Whilst their may be an empty seat, an unworn scarf or a missing click of the turnstile, each Shaker has made their own mark on the club, leaving their unique legacy and we remember them all with our own special memories.
 
We are a town with a proud history of association with the Lancashire Fusiliers and the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and we continue the tradition of trooping the colour.


We would ask supporters to be in their seats as early as possible for the remembrance service beginning ahead of kick-off.

Match Info: Colne (A), Sat 26th Oct, 3pm KO

The trip to Colne follows hard on the heels of last Tuesday’s visit to Charnock Richard, and we’re hoping the outcome is similar. What a treat it was for the Shakers and our fans. We celebrated the return to League action with an away win under lights on a wet and skiddy pitch – and with a clean sheet.
 
It was a good start for goalkeeper Russell Saunders – who was drafted in at the last minute as Mitch Allen and his partner welcomed their new arrival – Once again congrats to Mitch and Erikha on the birth of their child from everyone at the club.
 
The pressures of recent weeks have left us with several leading players struggling against injury. But the big danger at Colne is that on paper it should be a pushover. We’re third in the league with games in hand, and Colne are rock bottom – beaten in their last five games and with only six points.
 
So…come on you Shakers!!
    In Opposition – Colne
It’s been a dire season so far for Colne. Formed in 1996, they celebrated their 20th anniversary by winning the NWCFL title with 100 points and more than 100 goals.
In 2017, they finished their first season in the Northern Premier League West Division in a respectable fifth place, and in the following year reached the play-offs. That was as good as it got, however, and they were relegated in 2023.
Back in the NWCFL Premier Division, they were beaten 3-1 by Bury in the second match of the season and lost 4-1 in the return fixture. They ended the season in 10th position – seven places below Bury.

There are spaces at the grassed area at the side of the NORI Stadium, the access road, and the public car park by Colne & Nelson Rugby Club. Additional parking can be found at nearby Pendle Leisure Centre, Boundary Mill & Red Lane.

Please park considerately and think of local residents.
  Food / Drink: The main club house, will be open which has a bar serving soft drinks and alcoholic beverages including draft and snacks and have an outside can bar and a cafe serving burgers, pies, chips etc.
  Matchday Programme: Printed copies available on the turnstiles for £3.
  #NonLeagueDogs: Dogs are welcome but please keep them on a lead and take into account that it will be very busy.
