    Three Depart Gigg Lane

    Today marks the deadline for signings for clubs in the Northern Premier League (Steps 3 & 4) before the end of the season. Benito Lowe, Sam Burns and Jordan Butterworth have moved on to gain some much needed game time, ahead of this window closing. 
      Jordan Butterworth Sam Burns Benito Lowe   Benito has joined NPL side Stalybridge Celtic on a 28-day loan to get some minutes and regain fitness, joining up with his former manager James Kinsey as Stalybridge continue their push for the NPL playoffs.

    Forward Sam Burns has joins Warrington Rylands, also of the NPL, and midfielder Jordan Butterworth also joins up with Benito at Stalybridge. Both players will continue to be signed on dual-registration terms.
      Manager Dave McNabb gave us his thoughts on the players moving on:
              We would like to wish all three the best of luck for the remainder of the season.

    Team 1C Charity Fundraiser in Honour of Isla Hutton

    In an inspiring demonstration of community and charity, fans of Bury Football Club have come together to support an exceptional cause, Team 1C, in memory of Isla Hutton.

    In this year’s event, led by Ryan Jackson-Fogg and Warren Stone and including many others, the group are embarking on a dual-event fundraiser with high hopes of making a significant contribution to the charity.

    The fundraising activities will kick off on Easter Monday, 1st April, with a sponsored walk from Gigg Lane to Adie Moran Park, home of Prestwich Heys. All are due to arrive ahead of our game that day.

    Continuing the momentum, a second event on Saturday 13th April, sees Ryan run all 17.3 miles from Chorley to Gigg Lane for this season’s last home game against Padiham. A shirt auction and raffle will also be taking place, contact Ryan direct to place your bids and buy your raffle tickets HERE.

    Isla, the daughter of fellow Bury fan and Team1C founding member David Hutton, tragically lost her life in October 2022 to cardiac issues at the age of just six years old. David has since dedicated himself to ensuring his daughter’s legacy endures through the work of Team1C. This charity, which became a registered entity in 2022, operates entirely on the goodwill and effort of volunteers, aiming to support families and children affected by cardiac conditions.

    Team1C is renowned for its comprehensive support system, collaborating closely with notable children’s hospitals like Alder Hey, Ronald McDonald House, and Whiston Hospital. Their work is vital, offering much-needed support to both parents and children navigating the challenges of cardiac conditions.

    For those looking to contribute or learn more about the fundraising events and Team1C, your support can make a world of difference. Let’s come together to support this incredible cause and make a positive impact in the memory of Isla.

    FGRS Community Hub Fundraiser

    In response to the devastating gas explosion on Nelson Street close to Gigg Lane, FGRS Community Hub is stepping up to bring the community together in support of those impacted.

    A testament to the resilience and solidarity within our community, a fundraiser has been organised with the goal of offering relief and support to the victims of this unfortunate incident.

    The main event is scheduled for Sunday 14th April at the Fishpool Liberal Club, an occasion that not only aims to raise funds but also to strengthen community bonds during this difficult time. This gathering is an opportunity for community members to show their support, offer donations, and stand in solidarity with those facing the aftermath of the explosion.

    The explosion on Nelson St. has left many of our neighbors in dire need of assistance, with damages that go beyond physical property to the very heart of our community. In these trying times, it’s the collective support and compassion of the community that can make the most significant difference in the lives of those impacted.

    Understanding the power of collective effort, the FGRS Community Hub has also established a Just Giving page to facilitate donations from those who are unable to attend the event in person but still wish to contribute to the cause – aiming for £3,500.

    This online fundraising platform allows for easy and secure donations, ensuring that every penny goes directly to aiding the affected residents of Nelson St.

    Match Info: WYTHENSHAWE (H), SAT 30th Mar, 3pm KO

    The Shakers will be back in action for the first time in 14 days following our 2 – 2 draw with Charnock Richard behind closed doors at Gigg Lane.

    We are excited to welcome supporters back into the stadium in time for what is billed to be one of the most crucial games in our promotion bid as we host follow promotion chasers Wythenshawe.

    A home win would see the two teams go level on points making for an extremely exciting final four weeks of the North West Counties Premier Division campaign. An away win gives the visitors the breathing space they lost at home to Cheadle Town last weekend.

    Leading with 15 to go, Cheadle smashed two late goals to leave with the points and Wythenshawe suffered their first loss in nine. It really is all to play for this Easter weekend.

    We look forward to a two new faces joining Dave McNabb’s squad in recent weeks, with right-back Keenan Ferguson joining from Spennymoor and former Shaker Max Harrop, returning to Gigg Lane from Northern Prem Side Avro. The additions add reinforcement as we go into the final six games of the season.

          In Opposition – Wythenshawe
    Originally founded in 1946 as Wythenshawe Lads’ Club by Reg Gauntlet, a local window cleaner, gathering together a group of kids kicking a ball about in the street. They started playing friendlies, held meetings with parents in a wooden hut in the grounds of Cringlewood House, Yew Tree Lane. They then set up home by hiring a room in an old farmhouse in Daine Avenue, Rackhouse. A couple of years later Noel Timpson, of Timpson Shoes, purchased two ex-WW2 Nissen huts and sited them within the farmhouse grounds.

    Promotion was gained in May 2018 when the FA allocated the first team to a restructured North West Counties Football League. This meant that the club was competing at semi-professional level for the first time, they finished a creditable fourth in the First Division South in their first season.

    In 2019 the first team returned to the national stage when they re-entered the FA Vase. The following season 2020-21, they made their debut in the FA Cup, in the Extra Preliminary Round beat Shelley at home 4-2 in a memorable penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in 90 mins, exited in the Preliminary Round v. Trafford at home 1-4.

    The first full season, 2021-22, following two coronavirus pandemic hit seasons, they reached the NWCFL Division One South play-offs, losing to FC Isle of Man in the semi-finals.
    They improved on that the following season, 2022-23, arguably the club’s most successful, with a first team double, winning automatic promotion to the Premier Division by becoming champions (their first ever semi-professional title), then adding the First Division Champions Cup.

    Sacha Lord, co-founder of the music festival Parklife and The Warehouse Project, in April 2023 joined the Board and installed as Chair in June. Barratt, appointed as Chair in 2019, remained on the Board as Vice-Chair.

    In June 2023, the club changed its name, dropping ‘Amateurs’, becoming Wythenshawe Football Club, with the playing name Wythenshawe.

    We recommend purchasing a ticket ahead of the game to allow us to plan appropriately in the ground.

    Buy Tickets HERE   Pay on the Gate: Whilst encouraging supporters to buy online ahead of the game, turnstiles will be available to take cash & card payments.
      Away Supporters: Visiting supporters will be directed to the Cemetery End entrance. If visiting supporters have purchased a ticket for another stand previously, please head to this end. Turnstile operators will be on hand to assist. Tickets are available for this stand, with cash & card payments available.
      Season Ticket Holders: We have recognised the requests from some season ticket holders who wish to be sat in the Main Stand, instead of the currently allocated South Stand. The first 250 season ticket holders who wish to watch from the Main Stand, can do so by admission at the turnstile.

    Please arrive early to secure your seat, with allocations made on a first-come, first-served basis.

      On the Day & In the Ground
    Travel: Gigg Lane is accessible by car and is well served by public transport, please see our page on the TfGM website, which advises the best travel routes to the stadium. Directions can be sourced via Google Maps below.

      Parking: Our car-park policy is now in force.
      Due to the limited space within the car park at Gigg Lane, it is reserved for the following:
    Team Playing Staff and Management Match and Competition Officials Club Staff and volunteers transporting matchday equipment Members of the 1885 Suite  Sponsors Blue Badge Holders   If you have a blue badge or mobility issues please email the club secretary at secretary@buryfc.co.uk at least TWO days before the game.  Blue Badge holders shall be prioritised for a parking space.
      Entrance to the car park is strictly controlled and includes the areas within and in front of the fenced area.  Please contact the Club Secretary with any other related queries.
      There is on-street parking in the residential areas surrounding Gigg Lane, with supporters reminded to be respectful and considerate of the local residents at all times, as well as being mindful of and adhering to the parking permit measures in place in close proximity to the ground.
      Stadium Entry: Gates will open at 1:30pm.
      Our matchday volunteers will be on hand, both outside the turnstiles and inside the ground, to guide supporters to where they need to be. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask those who are there to help the day.
      Matchday Programme: You can purchase a programme online now, to collect at the merchandise stall ahead of the game or head to the sellers in and around the ground. Price of £3.

    Pound for the Ground: Our ‘Pound for the Ground’ half-time raffle tickets will be on sale in and around the ground, £1 per entry. Sellers accept cash or card, with 40% of the total pot going to the winning ticket with results announced over the PA system and on the scoreboard.

    Food / Drink: Our catering partner, Quirky Catering, operate the kiosks throughout the ground, and are accessible for supporters under the stands. A selection of hot and cold snacks will be available.
      Starkies bar Starkies: For those with tickets in the Main Stand, access to Starkies will be available from when the gates open. The bar is limited to a set number and this will be managed by stewards through the day.

    After the game, supporters from other areas of the ground can gain access to Starkies via the ground floor entrance in that corner of the ground – subject to the maximum capacity not being exceeded.
      Keep #GiggGleaming: With so much work gone into Gigg Lane to get us to this point, we want to keep it that way and a lot of work goes into turning the ground around between games each weekend. We have a team of volunteers lined up to clean the stands following the game.

    With this in mind, we urge all supporters to make sure any rubbish is processed in the correct manner, using the available bins where necessary, or if possible please take any rubbish away with you.
      Designated Smoking Areas: Supporters are not allowed to smoke / vape anywhere within the stands at Gigg Lane. Designated areas are set aside to do this, follow guidance from stewards on this and only smoke / vape within these areas.
      #NonLeagueDogs: For now, dogs are NOT permitted in the ground.

    Away Shirt Design Vote

    Last month our members voted yellow and navy as the colours for next season’s away kit.

    We now want you to choose the design.

    Our current policy is to rotate kits every two years, to reward supporters for buying replica kits and keep them up-to-date for longer. As we started the season with two new kits, home and away, we need to break this rule just once so that home and away kits are changed in alternate years. The current away kit will be kept as a third kit.

    The vote will allow you to make your selection in order of preference which improves the accuracy of the results.

    Vote emails will go out to all members over the next few days. If you aren’t a member please sign up on this site asap to get involved.
