Spooner Joins Shakers
We are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Callum Spooner, who joins us from Hyde United, subject to league & FA approval. The 27-year-old has spent the last four seasons at Ewan Fields, apart from a brief spell at Southport at the beginning of last season. The Tigers have finished in the top ten in the last three seasons in the NPL Premier, and Callum has been a key asset to the side. As captain, he also guided Hyde to the final of the Cheshire Senior Cup in the 2023/24 season, which they went on to win. Born in Rochdale, he started out at Bolton Wanderers academy. He’s also had spells at Stalybridge Celtic, Atherton Collieries & Bamber Bridge. Callum told club media: “I’m delighted to sign for the club, from the outside you can see how different it is from other clubs at the level. Then after speaking to Dave and Tim it was obvious that the style of play and ambitions suit mine as a player, so it was an easy decision to sign for Bury Football Club.” Manager, Dave McNabb added: “Cal is a player I’ve chased for a long time. He’s a dynamic midfield player who’s got it all. Excellent on the ball, is comfortable receiving in tight areas and building the game. A very intelligent footballer who has a brilliant understanding of the game.” We can’t wait to see him represent the Shakers in the iconic white and blue! Club Statement – Tony Cunningham appointed Club Secretary
We are delighted to announce Tony Cunningham as our new club secretary. Tony joins us after nearly 25 years at nearby Ramsbottom United. He started out as the club’s PA man, carried out numerous roles including club secretary – a position he’s held at the club since 2013. Prior to his involvement at the Riverside Stadium, he’d spent time at Mossley & Rossendale United. He also has a close affinity to Gigg Lane, supporting the Shakers throughout his life, first coming to a game in 1957, his attendance at games reduced more as he got more involved with Ramsbottom, but he still made it to his favourite seat in the South Stand when he could. Tony contributed to the programme for many years up until the club’s expulsion from the EFL in 2019. Following a competitive application process of over 20 applicants, the board felt Tony was the best choice for the role given his previous experience as a Northern Premier League secretary. Upon his appointment, Tony said: “I’m delighted to be returning to my spiritual home. I had the privilege of writing a column in the Bury programme for 40 years, even when I was involved with non-league clubs. Bury FC has always been “my team” even when I worked elsewhere, and although I loved my time at Rammy, I did turn down a couple of approaches from elsewhere, but as soon as I was offered the position here, it was a no brainer. “I am absolutely delighted to be back, renewing so many old acquaintances, and looking forward to using my experience to help take the Shakers back to where they should be.” Football Board Chair, Gareth Castick, added: “We are delighted Tony is joining us as our Club Secretary. Tony has decades of experience within the NPL, has built up strong relationships within non-league, and has all the skills and experience we were looking for. Everyone on the board is excited to welcome Tony to the club and look forward to the start of the season” Tony joins the club with immediate effect and will begin working with the rest of the football operations ahead of the 2025/26 season. 2025/26 Ticket Prices
Following the conclusion of our title winning 2024/25 campaign, anticipation is high for our first season in the PitchingIn Northern Premier League West and we can now share with you an update to our ticket pricing for the upcoming 2025/26 season. After careful consideration and in response to rising operational costs, including stadium maintenance, player development, and matchday services, we have made the difficult decision to adjust our ticket prices. This change will help ensure that we continue to compete at the highest level while maintaining the standards our fans expect and deserve. New Season Ticket Prices Adult: £225 16 – 18: £100 U16: £50 U5: Free New Match Day Ticket Prices Adult: £12 16 – 18: £5 U16: £3 U5: Free The increase in adult tickets for both season tickets and match day tickets represents the first increase in ticket prices for over 2 years. We understand this is a significant decision, and we remain committed to offering value and rewarding your incredible loyalty. With that in mind, we have made the decision to freeze ticket prices for 16 – 18, U16 and U5 supporters, with season and match tickets remaining the same as the previous season. Concession tickets have been discussed at length, and it is something that we will continue to review. We feel that we need to gain a greater understanding of the demographics of our fan base so that we can introduce concession tickets without the reduction having an impact on adult season and match day ticket prices. We know the importance of making football accessible. We are investing heavily in the matchday experience, stadium improvements, and community initiatives to ensure your support directly contributes to the growth and future of our club. We are currently working with our ticketing partners TicketCo and will confirm ticket release dates in due course, along with prices for hospitality season and match tickets. Thank you for your continued passion and loyalty. We can’t wait to welcome you back to Gigg Lane for another exciting season. View the full article

Obituary – Tom Youngs
Everyone at Bury Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of our former player Tom Youngs at the very young age of 45. Tom died yesterday, Sunday 4th May, having been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis back in 2014. Tom was an East Anglian man, born in Bury St Edmunds and began his career with a successful six-year spell at Cambridge United, where he played 150 league games, scoring 43 goals. Such form brought a £50,000 transfer to Northampton Town in March 2003 and after three years at Sixfields, he moved on again, to Leyton Orient in January 2005. After just six months in London, Tom moved north to join Graham Barrow’s Shakers in July 2005 and played 49 league games for the Shakers, scoring seven goals, over the next two years. Tom was studying sports journalist at the University of Staffordshire during his time at Gigg Lane and ended up joining Stafford Rangers when his time at Bury ended in 2007. He subsequently played for Cambridge City, St Albans City, Norwich United and Mildenhall Town. Our sincere condolences are sent to Tom’s wife Chelle and their two daughters, and to his extended family. View the full article
