Match Info: Stalybridge Celtic (A), Thu 1st Jan, 3pm KO
We start 2026 on the road as we take on Stalybridge Celtic at Bower Fold. This will be our fourth meeting with them this season, following encounters in the FA Cup (twice) and the league in quick succession back in August. Tim Lees brings his side into this fixture on the back of three consecutive wins, becoming the first Shakers manager since Lee Clark to boast a 100% record after three games in a full season. Boxing Day saw a 2–0 victory over Clitheroe, courtesy of goals from Rustam Stepans and Wigan loanee Leo Graham, whose loan deal has been extended into the first month of the new calendar year. An attendance of 5,337 was the eighth-highest of all time in the Northern Premier League, and just the third since the turn of the millennium to surpass the 5,000 mark. In Opposition – Stalybridge Celtic Jon Macken’s Stalybridge have faced back-to-back draws against Mossley and Vauxhall Motors, and sit two league places and points behind the Shakers. Ex-Bury striker Ruben Jerome sits top of the scoring charts for Celtic, with 10 goals this season. Admission & Tickets This game is an all-ticket fixture. Sloane Joins The Shakers
We are delighted to announce the signing of defender Bailey Sloane ahead of the busy Christmas period. He came through youth football with the Shakers before moving on to AFC Fylde, when the club was expelled from the EFL in 2019. Early spells with clubs such as Bury AFC, Chester and Avro helped him adapt to the physical and tactical demands of the adult game. In 2021, Bailey earned a move to Accrington Stanley, marking an important step into the EFL environment. Although he did not make a league appearance for the club, loan spells with teams including AFC Telford United and Radcliffe provided valuable match experience and continued development. Following his release from Accrington, he joined Farsley Celtic in 2024, where he enjoyed his most regular run of first-team football to date in the National League North. Playing mainly at left-back, he made a strong impression with his physical presence, versatility and defensive reliability. In early 2025, he moved to Marine AFC, continuing to gain senior experience before leaving the club later in the year for personal reasons. Interim manager, Tim Lees, said: “Bailey is an excellent player who can play left back or left-sided centre back. Aggressive, defensively very good 1v1 and extremely comfortable on the ball. He brings experience playing much higher and will fit perfectly with how we want to play.” Sloane becomes the first player to feature for the club pre-2019, for Bury AFC and Bury FC since our return to Gigg Lane in 2023. He will be available for selection for our Boxing Day clash against Clitheroe at Gigg Lane. Boxing Day Tickets View the full article

Match Info: Clitheroe (H), Fri 26th Dec, 3:00pm KO
Boxing Day football returns to Gigg Lane as we welcome Clitheroe in what promises to be a competitive festive encounter. With a big holiday crowd expected and momentum at stake as the season enters a crucial phase, the Shakers will be looking to make home advantage count against a first-time Lancashire opponent. After the excitement of Christmas, attention turns back to the pitch, where three points on Boxing Day could set the tone for the remainder of the campaign. Last time out, we made it two wins from two under Tim Lees with a deserved 1–0 victory away at Newcastle Town. Rustam Stepans’ first-half penalty proved decisive. Despite the narrow scoreline, Bury dominated throughout, creating a host of chances and rarely being troubled at the other end, with a composed defensive display, including an impressive debut from Luke Tabone, ensuring all three points were safely secured. In Opposition – Clitheroe Clitheroe are in their 22nd straight season at Step 4 in the Northern Premier League West. Founded in 1877, the club’s long history eventually settled at Shawbridge in the 1920s, with notable success in the Lancashire Combination and later national recognition through FA Vase runs, including a Wembley final in the 1990s. Sean McConville’s impact has renewed optimism that the Blues can push forward as they enter their second century at Shawbridge.
