We can confirm that Gabriel Johnson has completed a move to Emley AFC. Gabriel made 15 appearances in Shakers colours, scoring once in September vs Stafford Rangers at Gigg Lane. Over recent months, the growing travel demands placed on Gabriel have made it increasingly difficult for him to attend training consistently and arrive on time for matchdays. Following the recent birth of his child, Gabriel understandably expressed a desire to play closer to home to better support his young family. Two away trips for the Shakers this week start with a visit to the West Midlands, as we take on Darlaston Town for the first time in our history. Saturday saw a rare home defeat against Lower Breck, only our fourth league loss at Gigg Lane since Dave McNabb was appointed in September 2023. It’s only the third league game where the Shakers have failed to score this season. We remain fourth in the table going into Wednesday’s fixture. In Opposition – Darlaston Town Darlaston were promoted to Step 4, after a play-off final win against Lichfield City at the end of the 2023/24 season. They moved laterally over the summer from the NPL Midlands Division, where they finished 7th last season. 20th is their current position in the league table, having won three from 17 this season. Shakers head back to Gigg Lane for a table-topping clash against Lower Breck. A win would see us cut the gap to Breck two points at the top of the table, subject to other results involving Avro & Shifnal Town. We come into this one off the back of Tuesday’s 4-1 win at Nantwich, braces from Rustam Stepans and Kai Evans either side of half time gave us our first away win since early October. Breck faced Avro in midweek and came off the back of it with just their second defeat of the season. Prior to kick off, we will be holding our Remembrance Service honouring those who fought and died so we could live in freedom. We would like to invite any Veterans to enjoy the game on us. Back-to-back away games for the Shakers as we travel to Nantwich Town on Tuesday evening. We head into this one off the back of Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Bootle. Bury were forced to settle for a point after DJ Pedro’s equaliser and a missed penalty. Ben Hodkinson had given the hosts the lead before halftime, but despite second-half pressure, the Shakers couldn’t find a winner in Dave McNabb’s return to his former club. The Shakers are looking for their first away win in four games, with the last coming in a 1-0 victory at Trafford on October 7th. In Opposition – Nantwich Town Nantwich Town have won once in their last four matches – a victory over Vauxhall Motors at the end of October – and earned a point on Saturday with a draw at Darlaston Town. Bury Football Club is delighted to welcome Hannah Brindle as the club’s newly appointed Community Development Officer. Hannah brings a strong academic and practical background to the role, holding a BSc in Fitness and Wellbeing, completed while playing and coaching in the United States, and an MA in Adult Education. Her experience working with a variety of community and wellbeing groups has equipped her with valuable insight into how sport can be used as a tool for education, inclusion and positive social change. Hannah will play a key role in expanding Bury FC’s community programmes, developing new initiatives to engage local residents, and strengthening the club’s commitment to promoting health, participation and lifelong learning across all sections of the community. Furthermore, following an extensive recruitment and selection process, the Club is proud to announce the appointment of the inaugural Board of Trustees for Bury Football Club Community Sports Trust. The Trust will serve as the charitable arm of the club, dedicated to delivering programmes that promote health, education, inclusion and community engagement across Bury and the wider area. The appointed trustees bring a wealth of professional and community experience, each sharing a strong commitment to using sport as a vehicle for positive change. The newly appointed trustees are: Darren Bernstein (existing trustee), Abbey Barry, Roy Skelton, Mark Lomas, Jeremy Keeble, Sarah Porru, Phil Heap, Matt Peluch, Will Leach and Evonne Hitchen. Together, they will guide the Trust’s strategy, governance and impact as it works in partnership with local stakeholders to build a stronger, more connected community through football. Casey Lynchey, Head of Operations and Community, said: “The establishment of the Community Sports Trust marks a significant milestone in our journey to strengthen the club’s role within the town. We are back in Northern Premier League West action this Saturday as we make the trip to Merseyside to face Bootle at the Berry Street Garage Stadium. After a positive showing at the weekend, The Shakers will be aiming to continue their recent good form on the road as we head into the busy November schedule. It’s been a testing few weeks for Dave McNabb’s side, with games coming thick and fast. The squad has been stretched, but recent performances have shown resilience and togetherness as Bury look to maintain their push near the top end of the table. We extended our impressive home form with a 2-0 victory over Kidsgrove Athletic on Saturday. Tyler James & Kai Evans scored either side of the hour mark to seal three points for the Shakers. Oscar Threlkeld returned from injury to captain the side, whilst Tyler James was once again on the scoresheet in his second consecutive game since his return from a brief spell at Padiham. Owen Barker & Regan Riley returned for appearances off the bench. Elsewhere, Owen Robinson & Callum Spooner have gained minutes for the Under 21s at the weekend as they seek a return in the near future. In Opposition – Bootle Bootle are in their fifth season in the Northern Premier League West, having gained promotion from the North West Counties during the COVID-affected seasons. Alan Morgan’s side are 12th in the table and are four points off the play-offs, and have suffered back-to-back defeats against Chasetown & Congleton.
