We return to Gigg Lane for our second league game in three days, as we host Squires Gate in the NWCFL. We are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Harry Wright. The 24-year-old, came through the ranks at Ipswich Town before moving to Fleetwood Town, where he left in 2022. He’s also played for Cheadle Town earlier this month, making two appearances, one in a league fixture against AFC Liverpool and the other in the Macron Cup vs Sandbach United. Last Saturday saw a frustrating league defeat away at Chadderton, Dave McNabb’s Shakers took the lead through Andy Scarisbrick just before half-time, and then Oli Jepson doubled inside six second-half minutes.   Chadderton pulled it back to 2-1 just before the hour mark, before two late goals gave the side all three points.   We now move on to Saturday afternoon, as we look to set get a league double over Wythenshawe Town, after a dramatic win earlier in the season. We are delighted to confirm the signing of striker Joe Duckworth. The 22-year-old joins the Shakers from Witton Albion in the Northern Premier League. He’s made 52 appearances for the club across their last two seasons, scoring 23 goals. Joe’s breakout season was at Winsford United in the 2018/19 season, which brought a total of 28 goals in 47 games across two seasons at the Barton Stadium. Dave McNabb’s side come into Saturday’s game away at Chadderton with a full week of training behind them after last weekend’s emphatic win away at Barnoldswick Town.   A squad made up of mainly Under 23s featured in Tuesday night’s Manchester Cup tie away at Glossop North End, which ended 2-0 to the oppositions.   Shakeel Jones-Griffiths & Lewis Gilboy also featured in the squad for the midweek trip, giving them both an opportunity to step up into a senior role.  

Bury Football Club can announce the arrival of a further two additions, as midfielder Billy Reeves and defender Tom Moore joined this week following their free transfer from Bootle. The club are sad to report that Jimmy Moore has informed us that he is hanging up his boots with immediate effect.   Jimmy arrived in Bury in 2020, amassing 85 appearances and six goals, as well as captaining the side on occassion. His passion and strength key assets to the Andy Welsh side that was promoted as champions from NWCFL Division One North in 2021-22.
