We face yet another tough test with this visit to Irlam, but go into the game buoyed up by a stunning 4-0 performance against Colne.   It was a day on which our skill was backed up by grit and determination. Everyone – not least manager Dave McNabb – was embarrassed by the abysmal midweek performance against Litherland REMYCA. So we’re back on track for our vital December run of fixtures.   We were without suspended Ben Hockenhull, but were boosted by the last-minute signing of tou

We are delighted to confirm the signing of centre-back Aaron Chalmers, who joins us from Stalybridge Celtic, subject to NWCFL approval.   The 33-year-old, came through the ranks at Oldham Athletic, making it through to the first team to make two appearances.   After spells at Macclesfield Town and Hibernian, he dropped down the leagues to join Mossley in 2010, where he made 44 appearances and scored once. In 2011, he had a loan stint at Droylsden before moving to Stockport Sports f

We welcome Colne to Gigg Lane determined to bounce back from our disappointing start to a month which may well prove vital in our bid for promotion.   That 3-1 defeat at Litherland REMYCA was hard to take, but hey! – football’s always about a new start with the next match.   We beat Colne 2-0 at their place at the end of October, with second-half goals from Ben Hockenhull and Connor Pye. Since then, we’ve won two and lost two and Colne have won two, drawn one and lost one.

Objective achieved! We prepared for this game by bouncing back in style from the defeat at Lower Breck by beating Burscough 4-2 away. The first 45 minutes were probably the best we’ve played all season, even counting the stunning 8-0 defeat of Longridge Town. So we travel once again to Merseyside with heads held high.   But it was disappointing to present Burscough with a gift goal early in the second half, and after that it was a struggle. Quality told in the end, and overall it was anot

Last week we had the pleasure of hosting two football clubs from Chicago on behalf of FTI Sports Ltd – Lindenhurst Area Soccer Club and Chicago KICS Youth Soccer Club. Hiring Gigg Lane for training sessions, the children loved playing on the pitch and watching from the stands the parents loved hearing the story of Bury’s return to football.   Following the session they flooded into the club shop to buy memorabilia of their trip from football tops and hoodies to pin badges and an a
