    Bury Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of Leighton James at the age of 71.   The winger was part of Martin Dobson’s famous “Forgotten Fifteen” who won promotion in the 1984/85 season using only 15 players all season, Leighton made 46 appearances and scored five goals. James won 54 caps for Wales, scoring 10 goals including a famous penalty to secure victory over England at Wembley in 1977. In his long and storied career he made almost 650 club appearances, t

    Well, it all comes down to this. Two games to define a season. A crazy season, including points deductions, a number of postponements due to weather, behind closed doors fixtures and now to top it all off, a change of home venue to get the game ON!     We head to Broadhurst Park, home of FC United of Manchester, this coming Tuesday 16th April to take on Padiham in our penultimate game of the season. Kick-off is 7.45pm.     Our game with Padiham has now been arranged for this coming Tuesday evening, 16th April with a 7.45pm kick-off. This time with a change of venue. Our friends at FC United of Manchester have offered their Broadhurst Park ground for the night, with the pitch at Gigg Lane currently unplayable following today’s postponement. With all fixtures to be completed by Saturday 20th April, and with risk of a further weather related postponement on Tuesday, the club sourced alternative arrangements

    There will be a pitch inspection at 11:15 am due to concerns over the playing surface at Gigg Lane.   Concerns were raised before Thursday’s game and due to weather before and during the game the pitch deteriorated quite badly, with only light remedial work having taken place yesterday due the pitch condition.   We want to make sure that the surface is both safe and playable for both teams.   If the pitch is deemed playable tickets will go back on sale for the South St
