It was disappointment in Burscough for The Shakers on Saturday, falling to defeat to bottom of the table Skelmersdale United. On day where it just didn’t seem to click for Dave McNabbs men, Pascal Chimbonda’s Skelmersdale side made sure that they took their chances and were fortunate enough to gain a goal courtesy of a rare Harry Wright error. Skem Chairman Frank Hughes described to us on Playing Away how there was a False bottom in our Division and his team showcased why they perhaps

This weekend, attention turns to Cheadle Town Stingers, in a tough fixture away from home. Our 3-1 victory in the League last weekend against Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies was another fine performance by the team, making it our fourth consecutive win in all competitions, and our third league win of this season’s campaign. Our next fixture is going to take place this weekend against Cheadle Town Ladies in the North West Women’s Regional League. Our opponents are in fine form, and cur

Dave McNabb joined us as first team manager in October. He is supported by: Tim Lees – Assistant Manager Jack Hook – Coach Sam Ashton – Goalkeeper Coach

Following a bye in the last round of the Macron Cup, on Saturday we travel to near-neighbours Ramsbottom United in the second round of the competition. It’s back-to-back cup matches for Dave McNabb’s side after Tuesday’s league fixture with Pilkington was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. McNabb is taking a full squad up the A56 to take on the Rams, but could look to introduce players from our Under 23s squad who are also available for selection. Ramsbottom come into the game

Tonight’s game at Gigg Lane against Pilkington has been called off as the pitch is waterlogged. Persistent spells of rain throughout the day have put paid to the game, with the ground staff facing a battle to manage the amount of rain, on top of an already saturated playing surface, which left standing water in many areas. Tickets will be held over to the re-arranged game and we will be in touch once we know when that is. View the full article
