Bury FC have made a shaking appearance in England’s oldest footballing competition, with the First Round Proper just one successful game away, writes Lily-Mae Cooper.   A strong start for the Shakers entering in the Extra Preliminary Round on the 3rd of August with a 4-2 win against a predicted cohesive, strong Congleton Town. Our next women’s first team match sees the Shakers host Salford City FC Lionesses Women, following Sunday afternoon’s loss against Wythenshawe. Salford currently sit in ninth place in the Premier Division of the North West Womens Regional League, one below Bury. This week we informed the FENIX Trophy organisers of our intentions to withdraw from the competition. Following discussions amongst the board & management team, it was felt that our recent cup successes coupled with the Finnish weather, it would be difficult to arrange a date before the first round concludes in December.
