Objective achieved! We prepared for this game by bouncing back in style from the defeat at Lower Breck by beating Burscough 4-2 away. The first 45 minutes were probably the best we’ve played all season, even counting the stunning 8-0 defeat of Longridge Town. So we travel once again to Merseyside with heads held high.   But it was disappointing to present Burscough with a gift goal early in the second half, and after that it was a struggle. Last week we had the pleasure of hosting two football clubs from Chicago on behalf of FTI Sports Ltd – Lindenhurst Area Soccer Club and Chicago KICS Youth Soccer Club. Hiring Gigg Lane for training sessions, the children loved playing on the pitch and watching from the stands the parents loved hearing the story of Bury’s return to football.   Following the session they flooded into the club shop to buy memorabilia of their trip from football tops and hoodies to pin badges and an a

We are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Nicky Adams from Radcliffe, and with it Nicky starts a fourth spell at Gigg Lane. The 38-year-old began his footballing career with the Shakers, after coming through the club’s youth setup in the early 2000s. He made his first team debut in October 2005 in a 1-0 win against Darlington, in what was a debut not only for him but the first game in charge for the then manager, Chris Casper. We look forward to bouncing back against struggling Burscough after having lost our unbeaten record in the disappointing 4-3 defeat at Lower Breck.   Let’s be clear: it was a remarkable achievement to go 21 league games without defeat – just two short of the season’s half-way mark.   And let’s not forget our previous game was the outstanding 8-0 home win against Longridge Town, in which we excelled in every department.   Lower Breck were always going to be a challenge, given
