  2. We are delighted to confirm the signing of striker Djavan Pedro who joins the club on loan from Buxton until January. The 20-year-old joined the National League North side after leaving Salford City in the summer, after four years at the club. His time at Moor Lane started in 2020 joining the academy side. DJ signed a professional contract in the summer of 2022. He started the season with Marine on loan before being re-called. Then going on loan to Radcliffe until the start of 2023, where he joined Stalybridge. He also made four appearances in the Salford City first-team across league and cup competitions. Pedro has seven appearances and one goal to his name in the National League North this season. Upon signing for the club, he said: “I can’t wait to start playing games and impress the fans with goals and assists.” Manager Dave McNabb added: “DJ is a top quality striker and a player we’ve been trying to get through the door for a few weeks now. He leads the line well. He’s strong, quick, powerful and knows where the goal is. 7. In a recent, FSSB statement it was confirmed that we would be undertaking some work on our floodlights. We can confirm that this work will begin on November 19th. The works will not effect any of the footballing operations at the stadium, with all fixtures & pitch bookings going ahead as normal. We will be operating at 500 Lux for our men’s first team matches, which is compatible with floodlighting requirements for the EFL. For other fixtures will be operating at 250 Lux, and for pitch rental 200 Lux. James Brunt, Midstream Lighting’s Director of Sports said: “This upgrade will enhance the matchday experience for players and fans alike, ensuring brighter, more efficient lighting for every game. “Midstream Lighting are looking forward to bringing this project to life and supporting the club’s journey up the leagues.” View the full article

  9. The game against Charnock Richard marks a turning point in our season, and a good performance in this and every remaining fixture is vital if we are to achieve our primary aim: promotion. It was a bitter pill to swallow when the Shakers exited their third cup competition in eight days – beaten by Chadderton on penalties in the Isuzu FA Vase. So it’s goodbye to the cups, and there’s no time for self-pity as we go back to league action at Charnock Richard’s Mossie Park stadium. Several leading players were missing through injuries on Saturday. But the quality the Shakers take into the battle for promotion was plain to see. Not for the first time, however, we didn’t really start to play until the second half. Top-scorer Rustam Stepans took the chance for the 48th-minute equaliser superbly. But his 13th goal of the season was a team goal, and clearly showed the difference between the two sides, and on Tuesday he faces up to his former side. It should never have gone to penalties. But we didn’t add to our tally, and all credit to battling Chadderton. So now for the league. Come on, you Shakers! In Opposition – Charnock Richard Charnock Richard have had a mixed season so far. They’re 11th in the table, having won seven and lost seven games, with three drawn. But they were given a massive boost by Saturday’s 3-1 win at home to third-placed Lower Breck – one of the most consistent teams in the league. The Villagers’ history dates back to 1933, and their set-up took its present form in 1955. They joined the NWCFL in 2016 and were promoted to the Premier Division in the following year. As a thoroughly local village club, they run a wide variety of teams from juniors to veterans. 15. The Shakers face a tough third cup match in eight days, as they prepare to take on Chadderton in the First Round Proper of the Isuzu FA Vase this Saturday. The prospect of playing in the Wembley final is a great motivator. And it’s a match for which the battle at the top of the NWCFL is incredibly relevant. Like the Shakers, Chadderton are having a great second season in the league. They are in second place, with 41 points from 19 games – five behind leaders Ramsbottom, having played two fewer games. Bury – fourth, with 32 points from 14 games – beat Chadderton 3-1 under lights at Gigg Lane little more than two weeks ago. Scorer Bryan Ly, was Man of the Match just days after his dramatic late FA Cup penalty beat Radcliffe. The other goals came from Lewis Alessandra and substitute Cam Fogerty. It will be good to be at Gigg Lane on a Saturday for the first time in four weeks. We were drawn away for this tie, but work on the pitch at the Falcon Fire Stadium – where a 3G pitch is being installed – meant the game has been switched. The last Saturday home game was our 3-0 defeat of Burscough, also in the Isuzu FA Vase – the leading knock-out competition for tiers 9 and 10. Get your match information below. In Opposition – Chadderton FC Chadderton were founder members of the North-West Counties League in 1982, but it took them 41 years to reach the Premier Division. They finally made it through the Division One North play-offs in 2023, and went on to reach a creditable seventh place in their first season. They beat the Shakers 3-1 at Gigg Lane and 3-2 at Andrew Street last season, following a glut of late goal drama in both games. The club traces its history back to 1946 and the launch of Burnley Lane Estate Juniors. It took its present name in 1957 and following a recent Premier League grant, and years of hard work, pitch redevelopments started in September this year to install a 3G pitch. This is due to be ready to play on in 2025. Footage of the works is provided on the post to the right, with Chadderton playing all home games this season at alternative venues, including Gigg Lane already. 18. Bury Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Patrick Jarrett. The 22-year-old has joined the Shakers after leaving Scottish’s side Queen’s Park in the summer. Born in Nantwich, he spent two years at Nantwich Town before moving into the academy at Stoke City, playing for the clubs up to the Under 21s before moving to Queen’s Park in 2022. Jarrett is a versatile player and can play across positions in midfield. He also offers great skill and has contributed a lot to creating chances at his former clubs. Manager, Dave McNabb added: “We’re really excited to see Pat settle in and show what he can do. I first watched Pat three years ago when he was on loan at Nantwich and he was outstanding. “He’s had some brilliant experiences since then playing at a really high level. I’m hopeful he can add to our midfield options and help push us on towards our goals for the season.” Jarrett will go into tonight’s squad for the Manchester Cup game against Abbey Hey. 19. The FA Cup defeat at Harborough was a crushing blow, and ended our great run of 21 matches unbeaten in all competitions. But we’ve picked ourselves up, dusted ourselves down, and are all set for more cup action this week. First up are Abbey Hey, with Chadderton to follow in the Isuzu FA Vase at Gigg Lane on Saturday. The Shakers go into the Abbey Hey game with a squad of players mainly from the Under-23 team. This gives the youngsters an opportunity to shine and provides a bit of a break for players who have given so much in a hugely demanding season. The Under-23s are currently top of the 10-team Lancashire age-group league, with four wins out of four games played. The Premier Cup is awarded by the Manchester FA. The holders, Ashton United, have won the competition – full title the Frank Hannah Premier Cup – more often than any other club: 16 times in its 90-year history. In Opposition – Abbey Hey Abbey Hey made a reasonable start in their first season back in the NWCFL Premier Division after a break of five years, but have slumped in recent weeks. They are currently 10th in the league, six places below Bury, who have played five fewer games. Our 7-1 win at Abbey Hey back in August was the Shakers’ biggest of the season so far. Abbey Hey’s 2-1 victory at Burscough on Saturday was only the second in their last six games. The Gorton club reclaimed a place in the Premier Division by winning the 2023-24 play-offs in the league’s First Division South. Tickets PAY ON THE GATE: £7 adults, £4 concessions. 23. The club will not be hosting a fireworks display this year. Over the summer we installed a new playing surface and a display of this nature would not be appropriate. 24. We are delighted to confirm our new pitch partnership with the University Campus of Football Business (UCFB). The Manchester-based University will play a number of their Wednesday afternoon fixtures at Gigg Lane for the 2024/25 season. Brendan Flood, Chairman and CEO, UCFB said: “I am delighted that UCFB’s elite football teams will have the opportunity to be based at Gigg Lane for the 2024/2025 Season. “The move will provide our student footballers with a fantastic opportunity to play their home fixtures at a wonderful stadium steeped in football history, helping to create the environment for both our Women’s and Men’s teams to thrive. “Furthermore, this builds on the emerging relationship between UCFB and Bury FC, which will benefit all parties and the wider community.” Bury FC CEO, Neil Sears added: “We are delighted to announce this pitch partnership with UCFB. Having attended the University myself, I know first hand the importance of gaining real world knowledge along with practical experience. “By collaborating with UCFB, this will both allow Bury FC to optimize the pitch usage during times which are traditionally harder to fill whilst also supporting the next generation of students hoping to get started in the sports industry. “We look forward to a continued partnership with UCFB which both benefits the club and also adds real value to industry.” View the full article
